Today, NASCAR unloads at the 1-mile oval in Phoenix, Arizona. They’re set to drop the green flag on the FanShield 500 at Phoenix Raceway.

This marks the debut of the new short track rules package. Downforce has been removed on the front and the rear. The rear spoiler has been trimmed from 8″ to just 2.75″ for this race.

Goodyear also introduces a new tire. It’s softer with more stagger and it’s going to wear out faster.

Chase Elliott and Kevin Harvick lead them to the starting line. 312 laps of stock car racing are up next…

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 75

Green flag, Chase Elliott gets the jump on the outside lane and he’s clear before turn one. Kevin Harvick tucks in under his rear bumper.

Lap 2, Elliott over cooks the entry into turn one. Harvick works under him. Harvick pushes off the bottom into turn three and he lightly washes up into Elliott. Chase Elliott holds the lead.

Lap 20, most of the field have moved to the upper half of the race track. They’re running through the PJ1 for extra grip.

Lap 26, Kyle Busch has brushed the wall off turn two. There’s no smoke from a possible tire rub. We remain green.

Lap 35, Chase Elliott leads Kevin Harvick by 0.3-seconds. Harvick has been closing as Elliott works lap traffic.

Lap 39, Harvick works to the inside of Elliott and looks to pin him behind a lap car. Elliott holds him off on the outside and drops to the bottom to clear the lap car.

Lap 58, Ricky Stenhouse Jr is around in turn two and he backs it into the fence. The caution is out.

Pit stops

The field heads for the pit lane. Kevin Harvick wins the race to the pit exit, Elliott 2nd.

Green, Harvick leads.

Trouble behind them! Hamlin, Keselowski and Blaney crash. They were three wide into turn three. Hamlin’s nose pushed up the banking and clipped Keselowski.

Green, Harvick gets the jump.

3 to go in stage one, Elliott is on the bumper of Harvick for the lead.

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 115 (76-190)

10 cars stay out, including the top 5. Most of the rest head for the pits. Logano is out first and will restart 11th.

Penalty: Corey LaJoie is caught speeding on the pit lane.

Green flag on stage 2, Harvick gets the jump on the outside lane.

Lap 91, Chase Elliott is right on the bumper of Harvick for the lead. Elliott works to his right left rear off turn four. He cuts the dogleg and drives it deep to the bottom in turn one, clear. Chase Elliott takes the lead.

Lap 95, Harvick nearly tags the left rear of Elliott as he fights a loose condition.

Lap 103, Harvick works to the inside of Elliott and clear. He made a cockpit adjustment ahead of that move.

Lap 125, Harvick leads Brad Keselowski by 1.5 seconds.

Lap 131, Austin Dillon is slow in turn four and the caution is out. He lost a right front tire.

Pit stops

Kevin Harvick leads most of the leaders to the pit entry line. Chase Elliott wins the race off the pit lane. Slow stop for Harvick as he falls to 5th.

Penalty: Joey Logano is hit with an uncontrolled tire call.

Green, Elliott and Keselowski run even into turn one. They fight for space off turn two and kill their momentum. Martin Truex Jr has a run on both of them, he dives to the inside and clear.

Lap 141, Elliott has a run on Truex off turn two. Elliott leads into turn three as Keselowski takes 2nd.

34 laps to go in stage two, Chase Elliott heads for the pit lane with a loose wheel! Keselowski inherits the lead.

4 to go in stage two, Chase Elliott has worked back to the free pass position. Keselowski leads Harvick by 0.4 seconds.

2 to go in stage two, Garrett Smithley is up in smoke. The caution is out and this stage with finish under yellow.

Brad Keselowski takes the win in stage two!

The field heads for the pit lane. Keselowski is first in and Martin Truex Jr is first off.

Green flag on stage three, Brad Keselowski cuts the dogleg and takes the lead into turn one. Tyler Reddick drives it deep into turn three and takes over 2nd.

Lap 207, Kevin Harvick is beating on the bumper of Logano for 2nd. Harvick takes the position as Logano lets him go.

Quin Houff is around and he backs it into the wall. He blew up and the caution is out.

Pit stops

97 to go, the field heads to the pit lane under caution. Martin Truex Jr is off first with two tires. Logano restarts 4th, the first car with four.

Green, Truex Jr leads into turn one. Logano and Reddick run side by side for 2nd.

88 to go, Logano is on the bumper of Truex for the lead. Truex runs wide into turn one. Logano drives to the inside with four new tires and clear.

75 to go, Logano leads Harvick by 0.6 seconds.

70 to go, Harvick is closing quickly on Logano. Both drives run well above the traction compound. Logano has adjusted his line to defend.

63 to go, Harvick enters high in turn three. He crosses under Logano and dives to the bottom in turn one. They run side by side and Harvick finally clears him.

61 to go, Erik Jones is around and into the outside wall.

Pit stops

The field returns to the pit lane. Harvick is first in and first off.

Green, they run even into the dogleg. Logano cuts the dogleg and pops out with the lead before turn one.

48 to go, Tyler Reddick is in the outside wall! He lost a tire and caught the wall to bring out the caution.

Pit stops

Logano pits from the lead, many follow. Slow stop for Logano as Harvick wins the race to the pit exit. Keselowski and 9 others stay out.

Green, Keselowski and Elliott run even through the dogleg. Elliott pinches him down and Elliott leads in turn one. Elliott runs wide off turn two, he lifts and Kyle Larson takes the lead!

36 to go, Chris Buescher is in the wall and the caution is back out.

Pit stops

Keselowski stays out. Kyle Busch pits from 2nd and Larson pits from 3rd. Many others follow.

Green, Keslowski leads. Martin Truex Jr is in the wall behind him and the caution is out. Almirola got into the bumper of Truex in the braking zone and pushed him into the wall.

Green, Keselowski leads outof the dogleg. Bowyer works to his outside into turn one as Logano looks to the inside. Keselowski shuts the door off turn two.

21 to go, Logano is all over the bumper of Keselowski for the lead. Logano runs it high into turn one, he cuts the center and crosses under Keselowski off turn two.

They rub fenders and fight for space. Logano drives it deep to the bottom in turn one and he’s clear by three car lengths in turn two.

14 to go, Logano leads Harvick by 1 second.

9 to go

9 to go, Ross Chastain spins through the dogleg and the caution is out. Chastain got into Custer, checked up and Byron got into the back of him.

3 to go, Ricky Stenhouse Jr and John Hunter Nemechek tangle as they run five wide off turn four and the caution is out.

Green, Logano gets the jump. Harvick nearly gets to his right rear off turn two.

Final lap, Harvick is on the bumper of Logano. Logano opens the gap off turn two
