Chase Elliott is set to start from the pole position. He’s quickest in single lap pace.
However, Goodyear has a brand new tire for this year’s event on the Arizona short track. The tires have increased stagger, wear and fall-off.
At the same time, NASCAR has reduced downforce. The rear spoiler has been cut from 8 inches to just 2.75 inches. It’s the first race with the low downforce package.
Drivers were sideways in two lap qualifying runs. That’s going to be amplified during long runs in today’s race.
