Race Report

Green flag, Byron gets the jump.

Lap 2, Preece tags the outside wall, he comes down the track and tags Kyle Busch. Several spin and the caution is out.

Green, Byron leads Nemechek.

Lap 11, Clint Bowyer is stopped against the outside wall after contact with Bubba Wallace. Wallace worked to his right rear and Bowyer tried to clear himself, not clear. Bowyer then retaliated and spun himself in the process.

Green, Byron leads Nemechek and Bell.

Lap 18, the caution is back out. Johnson tried to clear himself off the corner on Kurt Busch, not clear. Johnson spins off the nose of Busch and several are collected.

Green, Byron leads.

Lap 32, Ty Dillon bounces off the outside wall and collects Chase Elliott. Several cars come into the scene are collected.

Green, Byron leads. Bell tries the bottom on Nemechek for 2nd but Bell can’t complete the pass.

Lap 43

Lap 43, Kyle Larson pinches Timmy Hill off the corner. They make contact and Larson is around.

Green, Byron leads. He’s led every lap so far.

Lap 51, Alex Bowman tries to clear himself on Parker Kligerman, not clear. Bowman is around in front of the field and the caution is out.

Green, Byron leads. The leaders have yet to pit.

Lap 71, Larson retaliates on Daniel Suarez. They spin and Larson tags him again under yellow. Suarez then spin him back, again under yellow.

Penalty: Daniel Suarez and Kyle Larson have been parked by officials for the remainder of the event.

Pit stops

The leaders head for the pit lane. Byron will restart in 9th. Cassill leads them to the green.

Green, Cassill leads. Chris Buescher works to his outside off turn two. They run side by side for the race lead.

Cassill spins and the caution is out!

Single file restarts declared

Green, Buescher leads Matt DiBenedetto on the single file restart. Byron is up to 5th, he has the freshest tires in the top 5.

56 to go, Byron is working the bottom lane. He clears Smithley for 4th and Bowman for 3rd. Byron isn’t done, he drives to the door of DiBenedetto and clear. Byron to third. He did all that on the bottom, it’s near impossible to pass down there.

51 to go, Ryan Preece gets into the left rear of Kyle Busch and turns him off turn four. There was some netcode there. The caution is out.

Green, Buescher leads. Byron dives to the inside in turn three. Byron hangs there into turn one. He finally completes the pass off turn four. Byron drives it back to the front.

37 to go

37 to go, Smithley bounces off the wall and collects Nemechek. Several cars are collected. The caution is out.

Green, Byron is clear by 10 car lengths into turn one. Stenhouse spins the tires and Nemechek works inside of him to take 2nd.

Keselowski spins and comes to a stop against the outside wall. Buescher slams him. He collects several more and the caution is out.

Green, Byron leads. The battled is for 2nd. Timmy Hill is all over the bumper of Nemechek.

9 to go, the caution is out. Kyle Busch and Ryan Preece fight for space. Preece bounces off the wall and clips Busch on his way back down.

Green, Byron is clear by 5 car lengths into turn one.

William Byron takes the win at Bristol Motor Speedway! They run three wide for 2nd at the line.
