As COVID-19 has the world locked down, the motorsports industry has turned to iRacing. Today, they’ll hit the virtual 2-mile oval for 85 laps.

Newcomer, Dale Earnhardt Jr will start in 18th. Marcus Ericsson and Will Power set the front row. They head to the starting line….

Coming to the green! Several cars stack up before the start finish line and before the green flag! 10+ cars involved and the yellow is out before the green. The back rows started rolling before the front, they ran out of room, an accordion.

Dale Earnhardt Jr heads to the pit lane. He had minor damage and he tops off the fuel.

Green flag, Ericsson leads on the single file restart. Powes pulls to his bumper off turn two. Power has a run to the inside and clear into turn three.

Ericsson fights back and retakes the lead. Power crosses him once again. Now, Ericsson back to the bottom and the lead. Great racing at the front!

Lap 8, Sage Karam has a run on both of them into turn three. He makes it three wide for the lead on the inside and Karam leads.

Lap 16, Newgarden is around off turn two. He slams the wall, no caution.

Lap 20, the top 10 run nose to tail. The crossovers have settled at the front as Karam continues to lead.

Pit cycle

Lap 40, Sage Karam heads for the pit lane from the race lead.

Lap 41, Power heads for the pit lane as Davidson spins coming to the pit lane behind him.

Lap 43, Nasr spins on pit lane. Kaiser is collected on the pit lane in that one.

Lap 45, Karam cycles back to the race lead. Will Power tails by 1 second.

34 laps to go, Power has run down the bumper of Karam. He dives to the inside and clear. Karam crosses back under him. They continue to trade time in the lead.

20 to go, Ed Carpenter pits from inside the top 10. However, he spins coming to the pit lane!

Leader pits

14 to go, Karam pits from the race lead! He pitted too early and can’t make it on fuel. Will Power is handed the lead. Power heads to the pits as well!

Palou is handed the lead.

9 to go, Palou tags the wall off turn four! He loses the lead and heads for the pits. Ryan Hunter-Reay leads.

5 to go, Ryan Hunter-Raey heads to the pits for fuel! Veach leads.

2 to go, Veach heads to the pits and hands the lead to Pagenaud! Kaiser is also out of fuel.

Simon Pagenaud takes the win at Michigan International Speedway!
