World of Outlaws statement on Kyle Larson

Could Kyle Larson return to the World of Outlaws?

On Sunday, Kyle Larson used the n-word during an online racing event. His world has since collapsed.

Larson was attempting to speak to his spotter on a private channel and/or he was having mic issues. Instead, the communication was shared on a public channel.

All 60+ drivers in the Mona oval event heard the phrase. That’s in addition to the thousands of viewers on various streaming platforms.

The next day, Larson was suspended by his team. He was also suspended by NASCAR with the requirement to take a sensitivity training class.

By Tuesday, several NASCAR sponsors announced that will end their partnership with Kyle Larson. Those included McDonalds and Chevrolet.

Later on Tuesday, Larson was officially fired by Chip Ganassi Racing. He will not return to the No. 42 when the 2020 NASCAR season resumes.

However, the 27-year-old is still the proud owner of the dirt sprint car team. He hasn’t been suspended from the dirt racing outlet but he must complete a sensitivity class within 30 days.

World of Outlaws: Statement

“The World of Outlaws welcomes fans and competitors from all backgrounds and does not condone the language used by Kyle Larson while virtually competing with a different series on April 12th.  As a World of Outlaws Member Driver and Team Owner, he violated Rule 2.2A, which states members agree to act in a professional manner at all times.”

“As with all infractions, we communicate directly with our Members and establish the appropriate course of action.  Given the nature of this infraction and Kyle’s already public apology, he will be required to complete a sensitivity training course within 30 days of the date of the infraction.”

“Kyle is an important and visible stakeholder in the World of Outlaws community as both a Driver and Team Owner.  Kyle has admitted to making a mistake and it is our expectation that he will make every effort to represent the sport in a professional manner moving forward.”

“Provided that Kyle completes the designated training in the allotted time, he will remain eligible to compete in all World of Outlaws sanctioned events.”

“Independently, full-time Sprint Car team Kyle Larson Racing, which was not involved in the infraction, will face no penalty and will be allowed to continue to compete in all World of Outlaws sanctioned events,” the statement concluded.

Chevrolet pulls sponsorship of dirt car; Finley Farms sticks with Larson

Chevrolet: Chevrolet has pulled their sponsorship of Kyle Larson. This includes the dirt sprint car operation.

Finley Farms: However, Larson hasn’t lost all his sponsors. The Finley Farms company is a major sponsor when Larson unloads at the dirt track and they issued the following statement:

“Finley Farms will continue to support Kyle Larson’s sprint car efforts! We all make mistakes, and deserve a second chance!”

The deck is lining up for Kyle Larson to go full-time dirt racing.
