INDYCAR results as Kyle Busch makes his debut

Today, INDYCAR returns to the Twin Ring Motegi. Japan’s 1.5-mile oval is set for thrilling online racing action.

INDYCAR hasn’t visited this track since 2011. Today, they’ll return in a digital world for the Firestone 175.

32 drivers are set for the green. NASCAR star Kyle Busch is in the field. James Hinchcliffe is suffering from technical issues and has not made the field ahead of the green. Sage Karam had qualifying issues and will be starting at the tail.

Robert Wickens and Will Power set the front row. 113 laps of INDYCAR oval racing are up next…

Green, Wickens gets the jump on the inside. Power tucks in behind him just ahead of turn one. They form three wide for the lead off turn two! Wickens holds them off on the inside.

Tony Kanaan climbs the fence behind them. No caution.

Lap 3, Jack Harvey moves to the front. Wickens and Power tangle but both continue.

Askew takes the lead. Drafting is heavy in play on this oval, they can’t decide who’s going to lead.

Lap 5, the caution is out.

Green, Askew leads into turn one.

Lap 10, Sage Karam has cracked the top 20. He started 31st.

Harvey to the race lead.

Lap 13, Will Power runs wide in turn four and has has a tow draft on Harvey off the corner. He swings to the inside into turn one and Power leads.

Lap 39, Felipe Nasr has been parked by officials. He’s been parked due to connection issues.

Pit cycle

Lap 43, Ryan Hunter-Reay heads for the pit lane.

Lap 50, Will Power pits from the race lead.

Lap 58, Power cycles back to the race lead. Max McLaughlin trails by a car length with Scott Dixon right in tow.

40 laps to go, Scott Dixon has moved to 2nd. He’s all over the bumper of the Power for the lead. 39 to go, Dixon looks to the inside into turn three, Dixon to the lead. They cross, Dixon back to the lead. Cross again, Dixon leads.

37 to go, Dixon finally holds the lead.

Pit cycle

30 to go, Jack Harvey heads for the pit lane to begin the final pit cycle. Some might be able to make it on fuel.

28 to go, Scott Dixon, Will Power and Max McLaughlin hit the pits on the same lap, 1st, 2nd and 3rd, Power wins the race off the pit lane.

21 to go, Josef Newgarden leads by 9 seconds but he’s yet to pit.

14 to go, Newgarden heads for the pits. Will Power has been handed the lead. Mx McLaughlin runs 2nd, a half second back and Simon Pagenaud holds 3rd.

10 to go, McLaughlin looks to the outside of Power for the race lead. At the same time, Askew looks to the inside and runs wide. Askew tags Power and Power is pushed up the track into McLaughlin. McLaughlin spins and tags the wall! No caution.

Pagenaud has a look to the outside of Power. Power has collected damage, they bang wheels for the race lead. Scott Dixon is closing on both of them. Pagenaud to the lead.

4 to go, Pagenaud leads Dixon by 2 car lengths. They snake down the straights as Pagenaud tries to break the draft.

Final lap, Dixon looks to the inside of Pagenaud into turn one. They make light contact as Pagenaud pinches him down but both cars continue. Pagenaud holds the lead!

Simon Pagenaud wins!
