What is the Open? The big show will take place tomorrow at the same track with many already locked in. The top two finishers from this event will transfer through to Friday.

Lanier Speedway was a 0.375-mile asphalt track. It was introduced to iRacing then the track died in 2016. When iRacing first introduced dirt to their online platform, they didn’t have any tracks. They elected to drop digital dirt on top of Lanier and make a dirt track out of it.

Feature Report

Kaeden Cornell sets to the pole position. Austin Yarbrough sets the outside front row. 100 laps of digital dirt late model racing is up next…

Green, Cornell leads on the bottom into turn one. Yarbrough can’t get to the bottom and both Jeremy Pilkerton and Chad Wheeler slip by him on the inside, Yarbrough to 4th.

Lap 12, Yarbrough is attempting to run the high side of the race track. Most of the field has been glued to the bottom so far.

Lap 15, Pilkerton is all over the bumper of Cornell for the race lead.

Lap 23, Pilkerton drives it deep and tags the rear bumper of the race leader. No bubble from Cornell as he holds the lead.

Lap 37, Yarbrough tags the outside wall with his right rear as he works lap traffic. He holds 4th.

Halfway

Lap 50, Cornell leads Pilkerton by 1.5 seconds.

The track has changed dramatically since the start of the event. The middle has sickened up. Moisture remains on the top and bottom.

Lap 70, Cornell has lapped up to the 6th position. Pilkerton trails by 10 car lengths.

Lap 77, Cornell works heavy lap traffic. Pilkerton climbs to his bumper.

Lap 85, the caution is out. Two drivers play bumper cars and bring out the yellow.

Green, Cornell leads Pilkerton. Chad Wheeler is right there with them.

Cornell drives away from the field once again. He takes the win at Lanier National Speedway!
