As the NASCAR Cup Series sits out in a land of postponements, drivers have turned to a digital world. Things have gone horribly in the virtual world for Clint Bowyer…

March 22: This didn’t start out so bad for Clint Bowyer. In the opening round at Homestead-Miami Speedway the driver finished 16th.

March 29: He continued with another solid run at Texas Motor SPeedway. Bowyer finished 11th.

Here’s where things went all sideways and shitty. The Pro Invitational began a short-track swing.

April 5: The series visited Bristol Motor Speedway. Early in the event, Bowyer cleared himself on Bubba Wallace. But, he wasn;t clear.

Instead, Bowyer hooked himself into the outside wall. Mistakenly thinking it was Bubba’s fault, Bowyer then retaliated and brought more damage to his machine.

“I got Budda’d,” Bowyer said after the accident.

The whole situation caused Bubba Wallace to rage exit the sim. Wallace then lost a real-world sponsor out of the deal. Meanwhile, Bowyer rebounded via a quick-repair and finished 11th.

April 19: The eNASCAR division visited another short track, Richmond Raceway. Early in the race, Bubba Wallace went to pass Bowyer don’t the straight away. There was room.

Unfortunately, netcode got the best of both of them. A bad connection saw the computer put the wrong placement of the cars on the screen. Even though they didn’t make contact, the game thought they did.

Bowyer was sent into the wall. He came out finishing 30th of 30.

Bowyer said: “I got Bubba’d again.”

He later came back via social media to clarify that the two drivers had netcode issues.

As you see, Bowyer can’t catch any breaks in this iRacing thing. But, it’s a new week…

That brings us up to speed. On Sunday, the eNASCAR Pro Invitational visited Talladega Superspeedway. The event was sure to bring carnage and it was all about survival.

Watch the video below.

On lap 40, Clint Bowyer was in the race lead. However, he had the tail of the lead lap ahead. Bowyer was pushing on the lap car as he led the event.

After all the struggles so far, Clint Bowyer was leading his first laps in the online racing series.

Dale Earnhardt Jr had a live-stream of his cockpit during the event. The race leader didn’t go unnoticed.

Dale Jr: He commented while running in 4th, “Clint Bowyer leading this race. Clint’s not had a good experience in much of these races.”

And exactly 6 seconds after Dale Earnhardt Jr said that, Clint Bowyer was up in smoke from the race lead!

Dale Jr: “Oh! He blew it up!”

The chat stream exploded in LOL’s. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. It sucks for Bowyer, but it brought a laugh to thousands.

Clint Bowyer: After the race, “I came, I led, I blowed up, I crashed!!!!!”

Bowyer was pushing too much on the lap car as he led. That caused the engine to overheat and eventually the engine blew. Other drivers in the stream have a spotter who informs them of things like engine temp as they drive (Dale Jr included).

Bowyer is credited with 33rd place finish at the checkered of the Talladega event. Also, he’s now credited with leading 1 lap.
