The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series has dropped the green! Kyle Larson and Kasey Kahne return
Tonight, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars are set to return. The half-mile dirt oval in Knoxville, Iowa is set to restart the 2020 racing season.

This reopening comes after a long list of postponements. The dirt track racing series has not touched the track since February 9, 2020. That comes to an end tonight.
Kyle Larson is also making his return to racing! The driver is currently suspended and without a ride in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Kasey Kahne is also making his return to racing. Kahne was injured in a sprint car accident last year and this is his first time back in the seat.
Fans have been invited digitally. The grandstands are closed to spectators. Strong social distancing is also in place throughout the pit area.
We’re going racing. The feature sprint car event has been extended from the typical 25 laps to 30 laps.
$10,000 is going to the race winner. But, crowd funding has created a whole bunch of bonus money for various things throughout the race. The halfway leader and the highest finishing PA driver, for example, will each get a bonus.
Ian Madsen and Daryn Pittman set the front row for the main event in the field of 26 cars. There’s no fans on hand but the drivers line up in a four wide salute for the fans at home. They roll to the starting line…

Feature Report
Green flag, they run even into turn one. Pittman noses ahead on the cushion through turn one. Madsen holds 2nd.
Lap 4, Madsen is working the bottom. He’s closed to within two car lengths at the center of the corner as Pittman remains on the cushion.
Lap 5, it’s about 50/50 on the cushion or the inside berm.
Lap 6, Shane Golobic was running 7th but he now has a flat after Sam Hafertepe Jr jumped the berm and got into him. The caution is out and Golobic heads for the pit area.
Green, Pittman heads to the bottom in turn one. Madsen jumps to the top.
Lap 7, Pittman moves to the top and Madsen crosses to the bottom. Madsen has a look under him off turn two and Pittman slams the door into turn three.
Brad Sweet started 19th. He just cracked the top 10 and he’s coming to the front in a hurry.
Lap 9, Madsen has a run around the top! He’s on his right rear off turn four and Pittman leaves the outside lane open. Madsen clears him and takes the lead at the flagstand. He drops to the bottom, crossing across the nose of Pittman into turn one.
Lap 13
Lap 13, the red flag is out! Kerry Madsen picked up a flat tire and was coasting around the cushion. Sheldon Haudenschild rolls into the scene with nowhere to go. As they clipped, Hausdenschild rolled into the fence. He has climbed from the car.
Green, Madsen leads. Pittman bobbles on the inside berm in turn one but he makes it up in turn three.
Pittman is on his bumper off turn four. He slides him for the lead into turn one. Ian Madsen crosses under him to retake the lead!
Gravel takes over 2nd.
Lap 18, Gravel is coming. He’s there! Gravel looks to the inside of Madsen into turn one. He rolls the bottom and they run even into turn three.
Lap traffic rolls the bottom just ahead of Gravel off turn four. Gravel is forced to lift. Madsen cuts to the bottom into turn one and they run bumper to bumper for the lead.
Lap 22, Gravel closes in on him again. Gravel slides him into turn one. Madsen crosses under him and retakes the lead off turn two!
5 to go
5 to go, Madsen leads by a full second.
4 to go, Madsen runs wide in turn three. He nearly throws it away and Gravel is back on his bumper.
3 to go, Gravel has a look on the inside but can’t get the power down off the corner.
2 to go, Gravel has a run off turn two. He drives it deep to the bottom in turn three and pulls even. Coming to the white flag, Madsen jumps the cushion on his own off turn four. Gravel takes the lead! He drives away!
