Bubba Wallace notes Confederate flag protesters wont be pepper spayed or shot with rubber bullets

NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace compares Black Lives Matter protests with Confederate flag protests

NASCAR’s only African-American driver went on CNN several weeks ago and sparked a major change in NASCAR. He encouraged the sport to ban the Confederate flag and turned the fanbase upside down.

Days later, NASCAR banned the Confederate flag. The flag is now absent from all events and properties under the NASCAR banner.

Last week, the Sons of Confederate Veterans paid to have a plane fly over Talladega Superspeedway on raceday. That plane carried a Confederate flag and also included the ‘Defund NASCAR’ message.

At the same time, across the street from the Alabama race track, many groups gathered with Confederate flags in a separate protest during the same NASCAR weekend.

Bubba Wallace is ok with that and even expects it…

Bubba Wallace talks Confederate flag protesters

“It’s their rights for peaceful protest, my man. It’s a part of it,” Bubba Wallace stated.

“But you won’t see them inside the racetracks where we’re having a good time with the new fans that are purchasing their tickets, purchasing their favorite drivers’ apparel. You won’t see it flying in there.”

”It’s exactly what you see on the flip side of everything going on and in cities as they peacefully protest,” he continued. “But you won’t see cops pepper-spraying them and shooting them with rubber bullets, will you?”

Wallace on Defense

Since the ban, Bubba Wallace has likely become the most hated and scrutinized driver on the race track, at least for the time being.

The FBI was called to Talladega as NASCAR found a noose at in the garage stall of Bubba Wallace. This came just a day after Sonoma Raceway found one in a tree at their California track.

In heightened times, NASCAR actually mistook the garage pull in Wallace’s stall for a noose. Technically, it was a noose. But, the rope had been in place since at least 2019, meaning it wasn’t in any way targeted at Wallace.

Yet, the fans have still jumped all over the driver of the No. 43, claiming hoax. The driver has defended himself and NASCAR has stood by his side and released an official photo of the noose to give clarification of their investigation.

“It wasn’t directed towards me or my family, but somebody still knows how to tie a noose. And whether they did it as a bad joke or not, who knows? But it was good for the public to see,” Wallace stated on Friday.

He added, “It still won’t change most, or some people’s mind of me being a hoax, but it is what it is.”

Wallace stated that he feels the pressure relieving. But, he has a brief message for those that continue to badger him on social media.

“The people that are sitting on the couch that have never done anything to their lives to be able to amount to something and they are jealous of your lifestyle, they’re just trying to throw hate, spew hate, and that’s unfortunate.”

“But you just have to think you’re living in your own life and you don’t have time to worry about other people’s lives. So you shouldn’t let them dictate how you live your life. Live life to the fullest.”
