Today, the NASCAR Cup Series is set for the first of two events at Pocono Raceway this weekend. It’s a rare Saturday afternoon appearance. They’re set for the Pocono Organics 325 in Long Pond, PA.

Stage 1 – Report
Laps: 25 (1-25 / 130)
Green flag, Blaney gets a better launch into turn one. Almirola drives it deep into the corner on the outside and Almirola leads off turn two.
Lap 16, the competition caution is out.
Green, Logano and Armirola run side by side for the lead in turn one as they run six wide behind them. Almirola holds the lead off turn two.
Lap 17, Quin Houff is around and he makes light contact with the inside wall. The caution is out.
Green, Logano drives it deep to the bottom in turn one and he clears Almirola off turn two. Logano to the lead.
3 to go in stage one, Denny Hamlin, Erik Jones, Kevin Harvick and others hit the pit lane.

Stage 2 – Report
Laps: 52 (26-77 / 130)
Joey Logano, Almirola and others stay out. Ryan Newman is first off with no tires. Kyle Busch is the first one off with four. Newman restarts 17th as Busch restarts 22nd.
Green, Almirola is clear before turn one with a push from Ryan Blaney.
Lap 45, Logano pits from 2nd under green. Lap 46, Almirola pits as well. Both of the leaders are in, this is their first stop of the day.
Martin Truex Jr has cycled to the race lead. He pitted on lap 14.
Lap 57
Lap 57, Denny Hamlin has run down the rear bumper of Martin Truex Jr. Hamlin has 8 laps fresher tires but many of those were under caution.
Hamlin has a look to the inside. Truex Jr gives him the lane but Hamlin can’t complete the pass in dirty air.
Lap 60, Truex Jr has run up on lap traffic at the wrong time. As he pushes up the track, Hamlin drives by on the inside. Truex Jr heads for the pit lane.
13 to go in stage two, John Hunter Nemechek doors JJ Yeley and Yeley catches the outside wall. He now has a flat tire and the caution is out.
The leaders hit the pit lane.
Green flag, Almirola is clear into turn one.
6 to go in stage two, Tyler Reddick and Erik Jones tangle and slide to the inside wall. Jones got loose, checked up and Reddick ran into the back of him. The caution is out.
Green, Logano and Almirola run even into turn one. Almirola drives it deeper and clears him.

It’s a mixed bag regarding a pit stop ahead of stage three. Ryan Blaney wins the race to the pit exit but he’ll restart 24th as most of the field stays out.
Green flag on stage three, Almirola leads into turn one as Blaney and DiBenedetto run side by side for 2nd. Kevin Harvick sweeps by both of them to take over 2nd.
39 to go, Joey Logano hits the pit lane under green. Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, William Byron and Jimmie Johnson pit with him.
36 to go, Almirola pits from the race lead.
28 to go, Ryan Newman leads Michael McDowell by 2.3 seconds. Almirola is 11th, 28 seconds back.
19 to go, Newman, Buescher and others have hit the pit lane. Chris Buescher and Ryan Preece are the only two cars left to pit, they run 1st and 2nd.
17 to go, Kevin Harvick has cycled to the race lead. He leads Hamlin by 2 seconds. Almirola is 12 seconds back of Harvick with four fresh tires.
The No. 4 took two tires on the last stop. Denny Hamlin did the same thing. Their left side tires were about 30 laps old at the time of the last stop, they remain on the car.
7 to go, Joey Logano has a flat left front, no caution.
3 to go, Harvick leads Hamlin by just 0.3 seconds. Harvick has been fighting with lap traffic as Hamlin closes.
2 to go, Harvick snakes across all three straights to break the draft.
1 to go, they snake across the start finish for the final time.
