Tonight, the national dirt late model tour returns to Zanesville, Ohio. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series field is unloaded and set for the $12,000 to win show.

Muskingum County Speedway is a 3/8-mile dirt track in the hills of Ohio. The racetrack is owned by the Moran family, it couldn’t be more of a home race for Devin Moran.

Jimmy Owens has won the last four LOLMDS events, in a row. Will that streak come to a stop tonight?

Owens finished 5th in his heat race. He transferred in from the B Main and will be coming for the tail as they drop the green on the main event.

Lucas Feature – Report

A bit of track prep is underway just ahead of the feature. They’ve sprinkled the bottom and the top. Drivers are looking at a somewhat new race track just ahead of the start.

Jonathan Davenport and Tyler Erb line up on the front row. Moran rolls from 3rd. It’s the Independance 50, paying $12,000 to the race winner.

The field lines up in a four wide salute for the Ohio dirt racing fans. 50 laps of dirt late model action are up next…

Green flag, Davenport gets the jump and leads into turn one. Moran and Erb run side by side for 2nd. Erb wins that battle on the top off turn two.

Lap 5, the caution is out.

Green, Tyler Erb drives it deep on the bottom. He pulls to the number of Davenport but can’t clear him.

Lap 6, Hudson O’Neal doors Josh Richards in turn one for 3rd. Richards is sideways in front of the field! McCreadie goes over the banking to avoid contact.

The caution is out. Several cars got into Richards including Clanton who ran square into the back of him. Richards heads to the pits and back out.

Green, Erb drives it deep to the bottom once again. Davenport holds it off turn two.

Caution.

Green, Erb nearly clears Davenport for the lead. Davenport holds it off turn two but Erb was just a few feet short of clearing him.

Lap 8, McCreadie is over the banking in turn two and the caution is out.

Green, Davenport leads. Erb is underfire from Moran for 2nd. They run four wide behind them.

Lap 17, Davenport leads Erb by 10 car lengths but he’s caught the tail of the field.

Lap 25, Erb is closing slightly. Both drivers run identical lines, just a few feet from the edge of the track. Davenport is struggling to lap Clanton.

Lap 38, Davenport, Erb Moran and Carpenter run nose to tail. Most of the field is in a train around the top.

McCreadie rolls around the bottom with a broken left front.

Erb has a look on the bottom in turn three. He pulls even, pass not complete. He tries it again the next lap, Davenport holds the spot.

He clears him! Erb to the lead.

5 to go, Moran slides Davenport for 2nd! Erb leads by 8 car lengths.

2 to go, Moran closes on Erb in a hurry!

Norris is around in turn four and the caution is out.

Green, Tyler Erb gets the jump and he’s clear by three into turn one. He opens the gap on Moran off turn two.
