Revolution Park Speedway: Asphalt oval converted to dirt track

5000 yards of dirt from 300 truck loads and the newest dirt track is born; Dirt on The Rev set to begin

Revolution Park Speedway is a 3/8-mile asphalt oval located in Monroe, Louisiana. The bullring race track features longer straights, narrow corners and high banks.

But, it’s no longer an asphalt track.

Dylan Scott has leased the facility. He’s brought in 1,500 tons of dirt and created the newest dirt track in the United States.

Track Address: 8850 Frontage Rd, Monroe, LA 71202

“I’m proud to say, not only are we still having it, we just added for more weekends. We’ll be doing some dirt track racing at Revolution Park Speedway,” Dirt on the Rev stated in a video a few weeks ahead of the project.

You should be excited from many angles. The facility is spectacular. It’s one of the newer tracks in the country, constructed as recently as 2008.

However, the track hasn’t been used for racing events in recent years with the most recent asphalt oval race in August 2014. Instead, programs like the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience have only rented the oval.

Originally, the track was set to make it’s debut on July 4th weekend. Now, the track is set to make it’s debut in the dirt racing world. Opening night is currently scheduled for July 11th, 2020.

“Too many other tracks running big shows nearby,” promoter Scott stated.

Two layers of dirt have been installed over the asphalt. The track is now ready for action. Just two layers?

The track promoter commented on the thickness of the new dirt layers, “We are working hard to build a good racetrack! I’m taking all precautions to make sure it doesn’t come apart! If it does, I’ll take full blame for it! But until then, how about just giving us the benefit of the doubt and giving us a chance!”

Dylan Scott (promoter) discusses the new dirt track

In four days, Nicholas Brown and Conner Davis laid down 5000 yards of dirt from 300 truck loads over a span of just 4 days.

“We’re going to put some dirt on it and have a good time. That’s what it’s about, having a good time y’all. We want it done right, we ain’t trying to rush this.”

Nicholas Brown is the one working the tractors and laying down the dirt.

“Nicholas, he’s the guy running the show out here. He’s the man with all the answer. I’m just a regular guy that loves dirt track racing. I’m a fan and I really wanted to do this.”

“You don’t want to ask me dirt questions because I don’t know all that,” Scott stated. “But, what I do know is this is an absolutely beautiful facility.”

“Y’all ready to see some quarter panels up on that wall? We are too. A lot of people have asked about dirt in this area for a long time. Lucky enough, we’re going to get it done.”

“We’re looking to put on some great racing out here. It’s going to be fast and we’re going to have good hamburgers.”

Mansfield Motor Speedway

We’ve seen asphalt tracks converted to dirt tracks, several times over recent years. Most recently, it was done by Mansfield Motor Speedway.

Mansfield hosted the famed ‘Dirt Million’ event for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The funding was most crowd funded as the track collected donations from race fans in addition to sending a portion of memorabilia sold to the purse.

In 2018, the purse for the event was $405,879 with $203,739 going to race winner Earl Pearson Jr. The 2019 dirt million saw a purse of $330,000 and was won by Brandon Sheppard.

For 2020, Mansfield Motor Speedway is no longer promoted by Cody Sommer. The track is back up for sale and no events are currently schedule for 2020.

But, a new conversation is here to take it’s place. Watch the videos below which show the completed project as the asphalt track has been fully converted to a dirt track.
