Jimmie Johnson tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the race weekend. He will miss his first NASCAR Cup Series start in the previous 663 events.

The field has been set view random draw. Joey Logano and Kurt Busch set the front row for today’s race in Indianapolis and they’re rolling to the starting line…

Indianapolis Race
Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 50 (1-50 / 160)

Green flag, Kurt Busch noses ahead on the inside as Logano gangs onto his right rear into turn one. He has momentum on the outside into turn two. Logano to the lead down the back stretch.

Lap 5, Kyle Busch doors Ryan Blaney down the front stretch. Possibly payback for last week at Pocono?

Martin Truex Jr is dropping through the field. He has an ECU issue.

Lap 13, Harvick hits the pit lane from 9th for four tires. As he sits on the pit lane, the competition caution is out.

Logano leads the field to the pit lane. Harvick stays out.

Pit road crash

Several crash on pit road! Corey LaJoie, Justin Allgaier, Martin Truex Jr and others are involved. The pit entry is completely blocked.

The red flag is out. One of Ryan Blaney’s crew members was clipped and they’re putting him on a stretcher.

Green, Harvick and Logank battle into turn one. They run three wide for 4th behind them.

Logano and Harvick trade side drafts down the back stretch. Harvick wins the battle in turn three on the outside!

Lap 41, Ryan Newman is in the outside wall and the caution is out. A suffered a flat tire at corner entry.

The field returns to the pit lane. Ty Dillon wins the race to the pit exit with two tires. Several stay out.

Green, Byron and Jones run side by side into turn one. Byron wins that battle.

Harvick and Elliott are in a battle behind them. These are the first cars to pit. Elliott wins that battle on the outside.

With 30 laps older tires, William Byron wins stage one!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 50 (51-100 / 160)

Green flag on stage two, Chase Elliott to the lead on the inside line. DiBenedetto and Hamlin use the outside lane, both drive by Harvick.

Lap 72, Chase Elliott leads Denny Hamlin by 4.75 seconds.

Lap 75, big crash! He suffered a mechanical issue in turn three and slammed the outside wall. The driver climbs from the car.

The field heads to the pit lane. Byron and Dillon both take two tires.

Green, Byron and Dillon run side by side into turn one. Dillon wins the battle.

Byron has a flat left front! The caution is back out.

Green, Hamlin and Dillon run even off turn one. They trade side drafts down the backstretch. Harvick has a run on both of them and he takes them three wide into turn three. Hamlin pinches Harvick to the grass but Harvick drives by both of them to take the lead.

Ryan Blaney gets loose behind them. Blaney slams the wall and the caution is back out.

Green, Harvick is clear before turn one.

Kevin Harvick wins stage two at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway!

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 60 (101-160 / 160)

Green flag on stage three, Harvick is nearly clear into turn one. Elliott hangs onto his left rear. They run side by side off turn two. Hamlin has a huge push from Christopher Bell. Hamlin takes them three wide for the lead into turn three. Harvick holds him off and leads off turn four.

Lap 120, Hamlin has climbed to the rear bumper of Harvick!

Lap 123, Hamlin heads to the pit lane. A lap later, Harvick pits from the race lead. A slow stop for Harvick and Hamlin makes the pass on a pit cycle.

Lap 133, Alex Bowman is in the wall! He picked up a flat tire while running 8th. The caution is out.

Hamlin and Harvick line back up on the front row.

Green, Hamlin leads. Kenseth and Bell both swing around Harvick as he makes light contact with Kenseth. But Harvick retakes 2nd by the time they reach turn three.

21 to go

21 to go, Harvick gets to the right rear of Hamlin for the lead. Nothing comes of it, Hamlin opens the gap back up.

10 to go, Hamlin lead Harvick by 10 car lengths. Matt Kenseth is closing on Harivck. Kenseth has the freshest tires of the three.

7 to go, the race leader of Denny Hamlin is hard in the wall in turn one! The car catches fire but he climbs from the car on his own power.

We’re going into NASCAR Overtime. It’s going to be a two lap shootout to the finish.

Green, Harvick is clear before turn one with a push from Cole Custer! Kenseth holds 2nd off turn two but Harvick is clear by 10 car lengths.
