Portsmouth Results: July 4, 2020 (Lucas Late Models)

This is the season opemer in Portsmouth, Ohio. It’s a packed house, the field lines up in a four wide salute to the Ohio dirt racing fans.

Green flag, Owens gets the jump and leads into turn one. Davenport makes it three wide for 2nd, Davenport to 2nd off turn two.

Lap 5, Owens leads Davenport by 10 car lengths. Shane Clanton is on the bumper of Davenport.

Lap 6, car around in turn two and the caution is out.

Green, Owens leads on the bottom. Clanton is hanging with him on the top.

Lap 10, Clanton drops to the bottom. Billy Moyer  Jr is on the cushion and he drives right by.

Lap 13, Clanton has a flat off turn two and the caution is out.

Green, Owens leads. Moyer Jr and Davenport run even into turn one, Moyer wins the battle on the top.

Lap 16, Tim McCreadie, Tyler Erb and Josh Richards run three wide for 4th. Richards drives it deep into turn one and clears them both by 5 car lengths.

Richards sacrifices all his corner exit speed in the process. He runs wide off turn two and tags the wall! The right front climbs the wall, as it lands, Richards spins. The caution is out.

Green, Owens leads Moyer Jr off turn two.

Lap 25, Owens leads Davenport by 10 car lengths.

Lap 30, Owens works heavy lap traffic. As he rides the bumper of Richards, Davenport is closing.

Lap 36, Kody Evans is stopped in turn four and the caution is out.

Green, Owens leads. Davenport has a look through the middle as Moyer Jr looks lower. They’re nearly three wide off turn two.

Davenport drives it deep to the bottom in turn three. He nearly clears him but Owens swings back to the lead off the high side of turn four.

5 to go, Davenport is exploring new lanes. Owens leads by 2 car lengths.

Davenport is beating on the cushion to get there but he’s going to come up short.
