There’s a full list of changes for the 2020 NASCAR All-Star event. The biggest of which is that up to 30,000 fans are allowed.

The second biggest, is that we’re going short track racing! The All-Star event has been hosted at Charlotte Motor Speedway for every race but 1 since 1985. For the first time, it moves to the 0.5-mile of Bristol Motor Speedway.

Choose Cone: Following pit stops drivers will pass a designated place on the race track. They will then choose the inside or outside row for the restart.

Ex: If the top 4 pick the inside, the 5th place car has the option to be the first car to pick the outside lane and start on the front row.

Underglow: There’s more, way more. New for the All-Star race the leader will feature underglow lights on the underbody of the chassis. That designates the leader.

Numbers: The number placement is different for this one event. Instead of the door, the numbers have been pushed backward toward the rear wheel. The primary sponsor placement will now be on the doors instead of the rear quarter panels.

Transferring into the All-Star Race: The All-Star Open will feature three segments. The winner of the first two stages as well as the overall race winner will be transferred into the All-Star race.

How they set the All-Star race lineup

The field has been set by a tonight’s random draw.

All-Star Race: 16 drivers come into Wednesday already locked into the All-Star race. All of those drivers have been combined into a single random draw for the pole position in the race.

Martin Truex Jr will start from the pole position in the NASCAR All-Star Race. Alex Bowman will complete the front row.

All-Star Open: All the other NASCAR Cup Series drivers are sent into the All-Star Open. They’re racing for a starting position at the tail of the All-Star race.

-1-12 (All-Star Open): The top twelve in owner points are drawing for the top 12 positions in the open race.

-13-22 (All-Star Open): The rest of the field is in a group to draw and complete the rest of the field.

Michael McDowell will start from the pole position in the All-Star Open. Aric Almirola will complete the front row.
