Michael McDowell spun Bubba Wallace at Bristol; Wallace then dropped the nose off at the hauler of McDowell; The McDowell team is now auctioning it off for 10’s of thousands
On Wednesday, NASCAR visited Bristol Motor Speedway for the NASCAR All-Star Race. Ahead of the event, three drivers would transfer in through the All-Star Open with stage wins.
Michael McDowell started on the front row for the All-Star Open. He began going backwards in a hurry as multiple drivers beat on his fenders.

Bubba Wallace got to him and gave McDowell a shot in the rear bumper. It was still clean for Bristol. McDowell went up the banking and Wallace looked to his inside.
McDowell then turned left down the straight-away, hooking Wallace in his right rear. Wallace made heavy impact with the outside wall and was out of the event before the end of stage one.
Drivers comment
“What the hell is that all about?” Wallace said on his radio. “Complete hook job.”
At least 20,000 fans were in attendance at Bristol, making it the largest sporting event since the pandemic began. The fans cheered loudly in approval of McDowell’s move.
As he climbed from his mangled car, Wallace walked to the infield care center. He was soon released.
Wallace then told reporters, “I can’t wait for the God-fearing text that he’s going to send me. What a joke he is.”

Michael McDowell has been silent on the accident. Until now…
“Everyone has an opinion of what happened,” said McDowell. “I have my side of things, Bubba has his and all of the fans have theirs, too. It’s one of the reasons NASCAR wanted to go to Bristol for the All-Star race. We created the excitement and now fans can make a difference and own a piece of history.”
Bubba Wallace nose piece dropped at hauler
The Richard Petty Motorsports team began taking the car apart, just so they could get it in the box. The nose piece was removed.
Bubba Wallace grabbed it and began walking down the garage area. Fans erupted once more, reminding us why the All-Star Race deserves to be at Bristol.
Wallace then dropped the broken nose piece on the lift gate of McDowell’s hauler. A crew member for the team moved it off the lift gate at to the trash can, which wasn’t smart.
After they thought about it, the team circled back to collect the nose piece. An Front Row Motorsports has now placed the item on ebay where the funds will be donated.

A nine day Ebay auction is already up and running by Front Row Motorsports.
McDowell tweeted, “Thank you Bubba Wallace for the gift. Hopefully we can raise a lot of money for @FollowMRO. They are a CHRISTIAN ministry that has loved and served our @NASCAR community for over 30 years.”
Wallace responded, “When life gives you lemons, auction them off and raise money for @FollowMRO. May not agree to what happened on track, but we can agree on a positive outcome from the situation.”
Motor Racing Outreach travels with NASCAR. For 30 years, they have provided prayer and service to the NASCAR community, who spend their weekends on the road. They bring the church to the racetrack.
The charitable organization relies on donations to continue to travel and serve. McDowell serves as a board member.
“We want to thank Bob Jenkins, Front Row Motorsports and Michael for thinking of us during this time,” said Billy Mauldin, President and CEO of Motor Racing Outreach.
He added, ‘Like everyone, we are fighting our own challenges of not being at the track. Donations are important to us right now and will help all drivers, crews and their families.”
