NASCAR penalty report lists COVID guidelines violation for the second week in a row

Over the weekend, NASCAR run a triple-header race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, TX.

Two weeks ago, ahead of Kentucky Speedway, NASCAR issued a warning to all teams regarding COVID-19 guidelines. Violations of those guidelines can generate a fine up to $50,000 in the NASCAR Cup Series.

After the race Kentucky weekend, we saw the first COVID penalty. Anthony Clements, the car owner of Jeremy Clements was hit with the first COVID penalty.

This week, we’re seeing another penalty of the same type. This time, it’s in the NASCAR Truck Series.

Mike Ruck, husband of Angela Ruch has been found in violation of the guidelines. He was listed at the truck driver for the #00 NASCAR Truck Series team.

Additionally, there was a lug nut violation in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Driver/Car: Michael McDowell #34

Infraction Date: July 19, 2020 (Post-Race)

Level: Safety

Infraction: Sections 10.9.10.4 – Tires and Wheels – Note: Lug nut(s) not properly installed.

Penalty: Crew chief ( Drew Blickensderfer ) has been fined $10,000.

NASCAR Truck Series

Infraction Date: July 18, 2020 (Post-Race)

Level: Safety

Infraction: Sections 12.8.1.b – “Failure to comply with NASCAR’s COVID-19 Event Protocol Guidelines and/or instructions from NASCAR including screenings, social distancing, compartmentalization, and use of required personal protective equipment, etc.”

Additionally — Sections 7.7.2.j – “If a team is not in compliance with the Team Event Roster Rules and guidelines, that team will be subject to a Penalty as outlined in Section 12 Violations and Disciplinary Action.”

Penalty: Hauler driver ( Michael Ruch ) has been fined $10,000.
