NASCAR penalty report for New Hampshire Motor Speedway; Massive $50,000 fine handed out; Team plans to appeal

On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series unloaded in Loudon, NH. New Hampshire Motor Speedway hosted just one race with no support divisions.

Brad Keselwoski drove to victory lane in the cup event. He did it with one loose lug nut. Four teams were handed lug nut violations.

Additionally, two NASCAR Cup Series teams were found to be illegal before the drop of the green flag. Both Corey LaJoie and Bubba Wallace lost their crew chief ahead of the race as NASCAR found improper ballast mounting.

$50,000 fine for NASCAR testing violation

Meanwhile, the NASCAR Xfinity Series had an off week. However, DGM Racing owner Mario Gosselin has been hit with a massive penalty on his day off.

Last weekend, the NXS team visited Daytona International Speedway for an SCCA event, a track owner by NASCAR.

NASCAR has now docked Alex Labbe 75 points for the L2 violation regarding the test session. Labbe was -73 to the 12th and final playoff position, before the penalty.

The SCCA event was run on the Daytona road course. A new track for NASCAR in the coming weeks. However, NASCAR has rules against testing.

Labbe ran the SCCA race in a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro. The model is approved for NASCAR Xfinity Series teams.

The team issued the following statement:

“DGM Racing is aware of the allegations against us. We feel we followed all the proper protocol and will be appealing the penalty. We are unable to comment futher. Thank you for the support we have received so far.”

Infraction: Testing Violation

Level: L2

Infraction: 5.1.a – Private vehicle testing by any race team, employee,  contractor, affiliate, associate, subsidiary, or surrogate is strictly prohibited.

Penalty: $50,000 fine to team owner Mario Gosselin. Additionally, the team has been handed a 75 point penalty.
