Christopher Bell to Joe Gibbs Racing in 2021

Bell will move back to Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series

In 2019, Chirstopher Bell graduated from the NASCAR Xfinity Series to a full-time NASCAR Cup Series ride with Leavine Family Racing in the No. 95.

Recently, the LFR team went on the search for a new owner. The team has since entered an agreement to sell all assets and the charter, as recently as last week.

Also last week, Joe Gibbs Racing announced Erik Jones would not return to the team in 2021. That left the No. 20 ride open.

With LFR changing ownership and JGR having an open seat, Christopher Bell will now move back to Joe Gibbs Racing in 2021.

Christopher Bell and Joe Gibbs comment

“I’m so appreciative of the opportunity I have this year with LFR and I want to finish this season strong for Bob (Leavine) and everyone there,” Bell said in a team statement.

Bell added, “At the same time, I’m extremely excited to return to Joe Gibbs Racing starting in 2021. It’s an organization I’m very comfortable with and have had a lot of success with.”

Christopher Bell is a Toyota driver who grew up racing through the JGR ladder system.

Joe Gibbs Racing currently has an alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing. It remains unclear if that will continue with the team under new ownership.

Gibbs stated, “We are excited to bring Christopher into our Cup Series program starting in 2021. He obviously had tremendous success in the Xfinity Series with us and we look forward to his return to JGR.”

In 2018-19, Bell won 15 NASCAR Xfinity Series race for Joe Gibbs Racing.
