Stage 1 – Report
Laps: 70 (1-70 / 311)
Green flag, chase Elliott gets the jump and he’s clear by 5 car lengths over Hamlin before turn one.
Lap 7, Kurt Busch is in the inside wall down the backstretch and the caution is out. He picked up a little help from Erik Jones off turn two.
Green, Elliott leads Hamlin.
Competition caution
Lap 26, the competition caution is out.
Elliott leads the the field to the pit lane. Logano leads them to the pit exit with two tires. Hamlin is off 4th, the first car with four new ones. Many stay out.
Green, Matt Kenseth and Austin Dillon rubs doors into turn one. Kenseth gets loose on the bottom, Dillon leads. Elliott and Bowyer rub fenders outside the top 10.
Lap 40, Hamlin washes off the bottom in turn two, he clips Logano but they both keep rolling. Hamlin to 3rd.
12 to go in stage one, Hamlin is rolling the top and running down the leader. Dillon works under a lap car and at the same time, Hamlin drivers right by on the outside in turn four.

Green flag on stage two, Hamlin is clear into turn one. Martin Truex Jr and Clint Bowyer run side by side for 2nd. Truex to 2nd on the outside.
Lap 100, Hamlin leads Truex by 1 second.
Pit cycle
Green flag pit stops are underway. Lap 136, Martin Truex Jr pits from 2nd.
Lap 139, Hamlin pits from the race lead.
It’s now lap 161, William Byron remains on the race track. With new tires, Denny Hamlin has run him down, he drives right by to retakes to the lead.
12 to go in stage two, Byron finally heads for the pit lane.

Hamlin leads the field to the pit lane. Truex Jr wins the race to the pit exit.
Green flag on stage three, Truex Jr and Kyle Busch run side by side in turn one. Truex Jr holds the lead on the outside of turn two.
Lap 225, Truex leads Busch by 1 second.

60 to go, Harvick pits from 6th, the first car to the pit lane. 58 to go, Truex and Hamlin pit from 1st and 2nd.
32 to go, Austin Dillon has yet to pit. Truex Jr has run him down and he drives right by to retake the lead.
20 to go, Truex Jr leads Hamlin by 1.2 seconds.
15 to go, Hamlin is closing.
11 to go, Hamlin is on the bumper of Truex! We have a race for the win.
10 to go, Hamlin runs wide in turn four to build momentum. He then crosses under Truex off turn four and has a run into turn one. Hamlin drives it deep to the bottom, he slides up and barely clears Truex. Hamlin leads.
