Tonight, the NASCAR Playoff grid will take shape in the regular season finale at Daytona International Speedway. The 2.5-mile oval is located in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Only 16 drivers will advance into the post regular-season. Kevin Harvick has already clinched the regular season championship. There’s a tight battle at the cutline between Johnson and Byron.

Stage 1
Race Report

Laps: 50 (1-50 / 160)

Green, Harvick gets a push from Joey Logano and Harvick is clear into turn one. Keselowski lines the bumper of Truex off turn two and he pushes Truex to the race lead.

Harvick and Truex trade the top spot multiple times. Lap 3, Harvick holds the lead.

Lap 5, Byron leads the outside lane with a push from Alex Bowman. The outside lane noses ahead to take the lead from Harvick.

Lap 17, Byron leads the line as the entire field runs single file around the outside wall.

Competition caution

Lap 21, the competition caution is out.

Fuel only for most of the leaders. Byron leads them to the restart.

Green, Bowman lets off and Byron drops to the bottom to lead the inside lane.

Lap 29, Joe Gibbs Racing has lined up nose to tail on the inside. Erik Jones is pushed to the lead. They clear the outside lane and they pull up to lead around the outside.

Lap 39, Joey Logano to the lead with a push from Ryan Blaney.

10 to go in stage one, Joey Logano leads a single file line around the top.

6 to go in stage one, Tyler Reddick leads the train on the inside lane with Johnson on his bumper. They are making ground on Logano who still leads the outside lane.

Final lap in stage one, Logano blocks both lanes.

Joey Logano holds them off to win stage one at Daytona!

Logano hits the pit lane from the lead. Bell wins the race to the pit exit, the only car to take two tires.

Green, Erik Jones leads on the outside with a push from Jimmie Johnson. Jones drops to the bottom.

Lap 61, the field has formed single file around the top. Many are saving fuel.

Lap 71, many of the Toyotas and Chevrolets have hit the pit lane under green. Kyle Busch leads but he still needs to pit.

Lap 90

Lap 90, Suarez leads a single file line around the bottom. The Chevrolet camp, who pitted are closing by 1 second a lap.

Lap 91, Joey Logano pulls out of line with help from Ryan Blaney. Logano returns to the race lead and they form single file around the top.

5 to go in stage two, the Chevrolet camp is here. The field runs three wide as they slice through the pack.

2 to go in stage two, Logano leads on the bottom. Truex leads a train on the outside lane. Logano blocks Truex.

Final lap in stage one, Logano blocks both lanes.

Race Report

Laps: 60 (101-160 / 160)

The leaders hit the pit lane. Hamlin and Harvick stay out.

Green flag on stage three, Truex clears Logano on the outside into turn one.

Lap 118, Jimmie Johnson has a run on the outside. Truex pulls up to block. Kyle Busch now leads the inside lane. Logano takes them three wide and Johnson is shuffled out of line. Kyle Busch to the lead.

Pit cycle

Lap 126, the entire Chevrolet camp hits the pit lane.

Lap 127, the Toyota group hits the pit lane. The Fords run single file around the track, Logano leads.

Lap 131, Joey Logano leads the Ford drivers to the pit lane.

Lap 132, the Toyota group is coming with momentum. They fly right by Logano as they pull off the pit lane. Logano leads Hamlin at the front. Logano cuts off Bubba Wallace to tuck in lane just inside the top 10.

23 to go, Ricky Stenhouse Jr leads train on the bottom. Kyle Busch leads a train on the top. Stenhouse is aggressively side drafting the outside lane to make up ground.

17 to go

17 to go, James Davison has picked up heavy damage and the caution is out.

Byron pits from 3rd! Johnson pits as well. Kyle Busch, Hamlin, Kurt Busch, Dillon, Logano and others stay out.

Green, Hamlin lifts and lets Kyle Busch drops down to lead the inside lane.

10 to go, Kurt Busch has a push on the inside from Christopher Bell. Tyler Reddick leads a train on the outside lane. They’re three wide.

9 to go, Reddick has a run on Kyle Busch. He pulls out of line and drops to the bottom. Reddick clears him and cuts across the nose of Kyle Busch to block.

Big crash! Kyle Busch and Erik Jones are in the wall after the block by Tyler Reddick. 9 cars are collected and the red flag is out.

5 Lap Shootout

Green, Hamlin and Reddick run side by side in turn one.

4 to go, Logano locks onto the rear bumper of Hamlin and he pushes them both out front.

Too far out front, the field has a run. Logano throws a huge block on Clint Bowyer and then Matt Kenseth, Hamlin still leads.

Coming to 2 to go, Hamlin blocks Logano. Logano dives to the inside and he takes the lead.

Bubba Wallace drives by both of them on the outside. Logano is clipped and jacked sideways into Bubba Wallace, he shoves Wallace in the fence. They’re still going straight.

They’re not done. Four wide into turn one as Byron sticks his nose in the battle. Logano rolls into turn one with a flat tire, he spins. Several cars are collected, including Jimmie Johnson. The caution is out.

Overtime

We’re going into overtime. Green flag, white flag and checkered flag.

Green, Hamlin and Byron run side by side into turn one. Bowyer pushes Byron clear in turn two.

White, Byron leads Bell. Bowyer is in the wall. Truex has a run, he clear Byron. Byron fights back. Several crashes behind them.
