TikTok enters NASCAR

This week, the Trump Administration is attempting to ban TikTok in the US; Meanwhile, TikTok joins NASCAR

Next weekend, Talladega Superspeedway hosts the NASCAR Xfinity Series. TikTok will make their NASCAR debut.

JD Motorsports with Gary Keller announced the deal on Thursday. Ryan Vargas will pilot the machine.

Vargas has already run with the team on three occasions in 2020. He ran events at Pocono Raceway, Kansas Speedway and Darlington Raceway.

TikTok was born in 2016. The popular app was developed by ByteDance Ltd, a Chinese multinational internet technology company headquartered in Beijing. It’s a government owned property.

Recently, the Trump Administration planned to ban the app from the US app stores due to privacy concerns. The company would be forced to sell off their US division, Microsoft and Oracle both showed interest.

In response, the company stated they would move all their US data to Oracle servers in the US. A sale was discussed but not followed through as a sale of the US app property would not likely be approved by the Chinese backed organization.

This remains a pending topic. The Trump Administration recently delayed the ban within app stores, by just a week. The new deadline is September 27th.

As of today, a US judge asked Trump to postpone the Sept 27th deadling or file an injunction by Friday.
