Natalie Decker not medically cleared to race Las Vegas

Decker lined up on the starting grid; She was then pushed to the garage area ahead of the green flag

Tonight, the NASCAR Truck Series will take to the the track in Las Vegas, Nevada. It’s the second race in this round of the 10 car playoff.

Natalie Decker, driver of the No. 44, cleared tech inspection earlier today. The truck was then pushed to the pit lane ahead of the start.

Just ahead of the green flag, NASCAR informed media that Decker is not medically cleared to start the event. The crew pushed the truck to the garage area before the start of the event.

Decker has run 11 NASCAR Truck Series events in 2020. She finished 29th last weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Decker underwent gullbladder surgery in the off-season. In June she missed the race at Pocono due to bile duct complications.

It’s unclear if those previous medical situation are related to what happened tonight.

Ahead of the race, Decker said, “I’m excited to head back to Las Vegas again this season.”

She added, “I really enjoy racing there and feel like we learned a lot earlier this season.  I’m thankful for another chance to get our Ruedebusch Development & Construction Chevrolet on track on Friday night.”

Decker will be credited with a last place finish.

Update

On Saturday morning, Decker posted the following to social media:

“I know you are all wondering what happened and what is going on. We are boarding soon to get back home where there will be more tests run so they can further evaluate and diagnose. I will let you know as soon as that is complete. Thank you for all your prayers and support.”
