Right off the bat, Wallace was confused how sharing his political opinion brought a NASCAR suspension.

He said, “I’m a lot confused.”

“I can assure you there were no racist comments or racial slurs, no cuss word [and] no negative comment towards individual people,” Wallace told Toby Christie.

On September 23, Wallace appealed the penalty. It was heard by the National Motorsports Appeals Panel.

Three person panel: Dixon Johnston, Bill Lester and Kevin Whitaker.

The penalty was upheld by the panel following the vote. Wallace still had the option to submit an appeal to the final appeals officer.

On Wednesday, October 7, the final ruling was given:

-The Appellant violated the Rules set forth in the Penalty Notice.

-The decision of the National Motorsports Appeals Panel upholding the original Penalty that was issued by NASCAR is affirmed and upheld.

The penalty is upheld. Roger Werner is the final appeals officers.

The ruling is now final as Wallace has exhausted all option to overturn the penalty.
