Kurt Busch can’t be bothered as he heads to the ROVAL in a convertible (VIDEO)

Tensions are high for everyone but Kurt Busch as the NASCAR Cup Series is likely to run their first rain race; During a playoff elimination event

Yesterday, we saw chaos in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race on the Charlotte ROVAL.

The rain race was extra exciting for the fans, maybe not so much for the drivers. Hydroplaning was a regular occurrence in the event and brought many accidents throughout the field.

The infield portion of Charlotte Motor Speedway is brand new. The surface is smooth and in many cases, flat. The combination creates puddles for cars to skid through.

Now, the NASCAR Cup Series is set to race on the same track today for their elimination event. Rain is expected yet again.

However, the NASCAR Cup Series hasn’t raced in the rain, ever. Some drivers in the field have zero experience in the rain.

The tensions were already high heading into this weekend. It’s a cutoff race in the NASCAR Playoffs, 12 drivers enter today’s event eligible to transfer into the next round.

After today’s race, four will be eliminated. However, four drivers are already locked into the next round via points or wins.

Both Denny Hamlin and Kurt Busch picked up a win in the Round of 12 already. By virtue of the rule book, those drivers automatically advance into the Round of 8.

Most of the Playoff field is heading to the Roval on edge. Meanwhile, Kurt Busch is heading to the Roval in a convertible despite rain clouds overhead.
