NASCAR Playoff Points after the Charlotte Roval: October 2020

The round of 12 is complete; 4 more drivers eliminated from NASCAR Playoffs

On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series unloaded at the Charlotte Roval. The skies opened and we saw the first career rain race for the Cup Series in the modern era.

12 driver entered Sunday’s race in Charlotte, North Carolina with a shot at the 2020 championship. Following the event, four drivers have been eliminated.

Roval

Kyle Busch is the defending NASCAR Cup Series champion. However, he will go no further in the 2020 Playoffs.

Busch picked up left front damage after a flat tire and contact with Clint Bowyer. He fought he was back to the lead on strategy. However, he was unable to hold off the field on old tires.

“It’s one of those off years. A terrible year for me. But, I knew this round was going to be trouble with the year that we’ve had. Yeah, I was right,” Kyle Busch told NBC Sports after the race.

Austin Dillon was looking to be one of the favorites early in the Playoffs. However, a series of bad races in this round have knocked him out.

Aric Almirola was also eliminated.

Clint Bowyer led laps on the Roval. He suffered broken power steering after contact on a restart. Bowyer fought hard for the remain 45 laps in a must win situation and was treated in the medical center after the race.
