Darrell Lanigan skips race due to concussion protocol

Following a crash, Lanigan missed the final night of the 2020 World of Outlaws season on Thursday

On Wednesday night, the Dirt Track at Charlotte hosted the opening night of the Last Call event for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series.

In the first heat race of the night, Darrell Lanigan spun in turn three the first lap. It was a complete restart of the heat race.

On lap 5 of the same heat race, Lanigan spun off turn four. The car did a half loop and smacked the wall on the drivers side door.

The 50-year-old never climbed from the car. Instead, the car was placed on the hook and Lanigan was pulled to the pit area.

The No. 29 driver did not return for the B-Main later in the night.

On Thursday, the same track opened the gates for night two of the same show. Lanigan never took to the track.

Lanigan had a headache after contact with the wall. He then visited the medics and Lanigan was placed under concussion protocol.

The driver of the Berry Wright house car is a World of Outlaws Series regular. After missing the final night of the 2020 season, Lanigan dropped from 5th to 6th in the standings.

Lanigan is a three time champion and is set to be inducted in the dirt late model Hall of Fame in 2021.
