Today, the long 2020 NASCAR season comes to a close in Phoenix, Arizona. Phoenix Raceway is set to host the championship race for the NASCAR Cup Series.

This is the final race for a 7-time champion. Jimmie Johnson and Clint Bowyer are both making their final appearances in their full-time NASCAR career.

NASCAR Cup Series (Championship 4) : Joey Logano; Chase Elliott; Brad Keselowski; Denny Hamlin.

The championship rules are simple. The highest finisher of the 4 championship drivers will be declared the 2020 NASCAR champion.

Chase Elliott was scheduled to start from the pole position. However, the No. 9 team failed pre-race technical inspection, twice. He’ll be sent to the rear of the field for the start.

Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski line up on the front row. 312 laps of stock car racing are up next.

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 75 (1-75 / 312)

Green flag, Joey Logano gets the jump and he leads Brad Keselowski into turn one.

Lap 10, Chase Elliott is flying through the field, he’s cracked the top 20 after starting at the tail of the field. Logano leads Keselowski by 2 seconds.

Lap 11, Hamlin slides Keselowski for 2nd. Keselowski crosses under him and retakes the spot.

Lap 31, the competition caution is out. The field hits the pit lane. Slow stop for Keselowski as Logano is first in and first to the pit exit.

Green, Logano leads Hamlin off turn two.

Lap 50, Logano leads Hamlin by 3 car lengths. Chase Elliott has climbed from the tail of the field to 3rd!

Joey Logano wins stage one at Phoenix Raceway!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 115 (76-190 / 312)

Green flag on stage two, Logano is clear into turn one. Hamlin and Elliott run side by side for 2nd. Hamlin holds off Elliott and pressures Logano for the lead.

Lap 113, Hamlin puts the bumper to Logano for the lead into turn three. Logano holds the lead on the outside and Hamlin gets loose on the bottom. Elliott works him over to take 2nd away.

Lap 120, Elliott drives it deep to the bottom in turn one. He slides clear of Logano, Elliott leads.

Lap 160, the first green flag pit cycle is complete. Elliott cycles back to the race lead. Elliott, Hamlin, Keselowski and Logano run 1st-4th. The championship contenders are controlling the race.

Lap 161, James Davison brushes the wall and the caution is out.

The field hits the pit lane. Kurt Busch is out first with a two tire car. Elliott is off 2nd, with four tires.

Green, Elliott and Kurt Busch run even into turn one and off turn two. Elliott drives it deeper into turn three and holds the race lead. Keselowski, Logano and Hamlin quickly work by Kurt Busch.

Lap 173

Lap 173, Keselowski has a run on Elliott into turn three. He drives it deep to the bottom, slides him and claar. Keselowski leads with Elliott all over his bumper.

Lap 183, Elliott slides Keselowski to retake the lead.

2 to go in stage two, Keselowski looks under Elliott for the lead byt he can’t clear him.

1 to go, Keselowski is all over Elliott at the white flag. He looks to his inside in turn three. Keselowski runs wide and takes his line away, clear.

Brad Keselowski wins stage two at Phoenix Raceway!

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 122 (191-312 / 312)

The field hits the pit lane. Another slow stop for Keselowski as he’s out 5th. Elliott wins the race to the pit exit.

Green flag on stage three, Elliott and Logano run side by side into turn one. Elliott holds the spot off turn two.

52 to go, green flag pit stops are underway. Joey Logano pitted a lap earlier and he’s taken the lead as a result! Logano leads Elliott by 1.5 seconds. Another slow stop for Keselowski.

43 to go, Chase Elliott is all over the bumper of Logano for the lead and the championship! He rubs on his rear bumper and guides him out of the groove! Elliott cuts under him and takes away the race lead!

5 to go, Elliott leads Keselowski by 3.3 seconds.

Chase Elliott wins the race and the championship at Phoenix Raceway!
