Daniel Hemric to Joe Gibbs Racing No. 18 in Xfinity Series

Hemric will run full-time with Joe Gibbs Racing in 2021

Daniel Hemric will drive the No. 18 Toyota Supra full-time in 2021. The driver makes the move from Chevrolet to Toyota.

In 2019, Hemric ran full-time with Richard Childress Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series. For 2020, Tyler Reddick moved up to take the No. 8 seat in the NASCAR Cup Series. Hemric then moved back down to the Xfinity Series were he ran a part time schedule with JR Motorsports.

“It’s been quite a roller coaster ride for me over the last few years, but I can’t say how thankful I am for the opportunity to drive for Joe Gibbs Racing,” said Hemric.

“Their reputation speaks for itself. I know they have high expectations for me, as I do as well, and I could not be more excited to chase the Xfinity Series championship with them next season.”

Hemric added via twitter, “In the daily grind for success you experience hardships; things that test your faith & integrity. I’ve experienced a lot of that over the past 24 months & I’m still standing! I’ve prepared my entire life for this opportunity. Bring on the work, I’m ready to seize this moment.”

Riley Herbst is leaving Joe Gibbs Racing. That’s opened the No. 18 seat for the 2021 season.

“We’re excited to have Daniel join our Xfinity Series team,” said Steve de Souza, Executive Vice President of Xfinity Series and Development for Joe Gibbs Racing.

“He has proven the ability to run up front and we believe his experience and consistency will be a benefit to our overall program. We look forward to him competing with Brandon (Jones) and Harrison (Burton) for wins and contending for a championship.”
