Clint Bowyer considered ending career with epic NASCAR finale

Freddie Kraft: “I thought Clint had the best idea in the history of out sport for his last race. And he just did not follow up on it.”

On Sunday, Clint Bowyer ran his final race as a full-time NASCAR Cup Series driver. It marked the end of 16 year career, 15 of which were full-time seasons.

On Saturday, the day before the race, a group got together for dinner. Clint Bowyer was there and he unveiled a tentative plan of action for his last race.

Freddie Kraft, the current spotter for Bubba Wallace in the NASCAR Cup Series was one of those in attendance. He shared Bowyer’s master plan.

“I thought Clint had the best idea in the history of out sport for his last race. And he just did not follow up on it,” Kraft stated on the Dirty Mo Media network.

“For one thing, Clint does not forget, anything. He was saying, ‘I think I’m just going to pull the pin tomorrow and just wreck everybody that I owe a wreck to. And as I wreck them, call it out, like that was ’08 Martinsville right there bud.’ “

“That would have been the most epic thing in the history of the sport. He was rattling them off and Brett Griffin (Bowyer’s spotter) was like, ‘Son of a bitch doesn’t forget nothing, apparently.’ “

“He remembered every person that wrecked him. It was incredible.”

Bowyer didn’t do that. Instead, he ran a clean race and finished 9th at Phoenix Raceway. Bowyer ends his full-time career with 10 race wins.

In 2021, Bowyer was make the move to a different seat in the TV booth as a broadcaster. As for the seat, he probably won’t use it.
