Decker still had a race left in 2020; That plan is canceled
In December 2019, Natalie Decker underwent gallbladder surgery. In June of 2020, she missed a NASCAR Truck Series event at Pocono Raceway due to bile duct complications from that surgery.
In September, her NASCAR team was pushing the truck to the starting grid when Decker was forced to pull herself from the event due to high blood pressure.
Decker wasn’t cleared to race in the weeks that followed as she continued to run medical tests.
Three weeks later, Decker was cleared to race. She returned to run events at Texas and Martinsville.
On November 8, Decker ran a Trans-Am Series GT4 race with Ave Motorsports at Circuit of the Americas. She finished 4th in her debut with the series.
She was scheduled to run another Trans-Am race this weekend at Road Atlanta. Those plans have been canceled for the driver.
Natalie Decker tests positive for COVID-19
“In what seems to be the unfortunate theme of 2020, I can’t make my last race of the year with Ave Motorsports because I have tested positive for Covid,” Natalie Decker stated via social media.
“This has been a roller coaster year with many set backs but nothing will break me!”
“I sat with this news for a few days and couldn’t figure out a way to tell you all that my last race of the year will not be happening. I’m very sad and upset as I wanted to end the year on a high note.”
She concluded, “I’ll be missing this race but the main focus is to get healthy! And I am doing everything I can to do so! Please all of you stay healthy and safe!”
