NASCAR schedule for 2021 adjusted; Auto Club removed

The pandemic has already adjusted the 2021 NASCAR schedule in California

The 63rd running of the DAYTONA 500 is scheduled to run on Sunday, Feb. 14 as the season opener for the NASCAR Cup Series. After that, teams were originally schedule to head for Auto Club Speedway in California.

Additionally, the NASCAR Truck Series event originally scheduled for Feb 19th at Homestead-Miami Speedway has been moved to the Daytona Road Course.

“Due to challenges resulting from the ongoing pandemic and the need for significant advance planning, NASCAR will adjust two race weekends,” NASCAR said in a statement.

Now, teams will instead run back to back weekends in Daytona. The oval race will be followed by a race on the Daytona Road Course.

The NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series races on the Daytona road course will replace the events originally scheduled to take place at Auto Club Speedway on Feb. 27-28. The Camping World Truck Series race is realigned from the event originally scheduled to take place at Homestead-Maimi Speedway on Friday, Feb. 19.

Both the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series will then head to Homestead-Miami Speedway. Those races will now be run one week later than scheduled on Feb. 27-28.
