Boyd’s Speedway expected to be sold

An agreement has been reached to sell the Georgia dirt track; Tennessee mansion back on the market

Boyd’s Speedway is a 1/3-mile oval located in Ringgold, Georgia. The track rests extremely close to the Tennessee state line.

On May 16th, Boyd’s Speedway hosted their ‘Fans in The Stands’ night. It was highly anticipated as the first event at the track, with fans allowed entry since the pandemic began.

Later in the night, David Duplissey, the Boyd’s speedway owner entered the scoring tower and struck an employee, several times. The alleged assault of the employee lasted about a minute as he ducked from the blows.

“Somebody go over there and stop that,” a fan yelled from the grandstands below the altercation. “Somebody needs to arrest that man. Is there any police outside?”

Gary Sisk, the Catoosa County Sheriff stated the altercation stemmed from the employee telling Duplissey not to grade the track. Duplissey was on a piece of track equipment as the employee in the tower was supposedly trying to get cars on the track.

Following the incident, Boyd’s Speedway halted operations. The next nine events at the Georgia dirt track were canceled.

In September, the track re-opened with a $2,500 to win super late model event. Four more races were run to close out the 2020 season.

Now, the current owners have entered an agreement to sell the track. An event under the new ownership is already pending for January.
