With two races to go in the 2020 season, Elliott found himself in a must win situation at Martinsville Speedway. He won, clinching his spot in the championship race.
In the championship finale, Elliott quickly surfaced to the top of the board. He rubbed doors with his competitors and drove to his first career championship and the race win at Phoenix Raceway.

Jimmie Johnson ran his final full-time season in 2020. The seven time champion is making a move to a part-time ride in the Indycar Series for 2021.
Darlington Raceway hosts a Throwback weekend every year during the Southern 500. As Johnson was set to retire, many fans expected to see Johnson run a tribute to one of his own championships. Instead, Hendrick Motorsports took a unique approach.
Johnson is tied with two other legends as far as championships. Johnson ran a paint scheme that honored both Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty, at the same time.
The doors mirrored the No. 3 of Dale Earnhardt. The roof mirrored the No. 48 of Richard Petty. With Johnson as the driver, three 7-time champions were featured on one car.

3. Bubba Wallace (Martinsville)
Bubba Wallace grabbed headline after headline for about a month leading into and out of the race at Martinsville Speedway.
In early June, Wallace promoted change in NASCAR. He called on executives to ban Confederate flags from tracks across the country via a CNN interview. Two days later, NASCAR announced they would officially ban Confederate flags from all tracks and properties that NASCAR attends.
The Confederate flag is deeply embedded in the heritage of the sport which stems from Southern roots. The call to ban the flag was negatively received by many fans who see it as representation of their own Southern roots.
Days after the announcement, Wallace ran at Martinsville Speedway without a sponsor. The team elected to run a ‘Black Lives Matter’ paint scheme to make use of the negative space.
Wallace drove the machine to 11th.
