New merchandise hints at 2021 NASCAR sponsor for Kyle Larson
In 2021, Kyle Larson has landed at Hendrick Motorsports. He’ll drive for the team in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Earlier this year, Larson was suspended by NASCAR for using a racial slur during an online race. A few days later, he was fired by Chip Ganassi Racing leaving his future at the highest level of United States auto racing in question.
Amid the NASCAR suspension, Larson sold his new house and went in search of dirt tracks. Across the country, Larson dominated with a near 50% win ratio, including a win in his first ever dirt late model weekend.
Kyle Larson’s 2021 campaign at Hendrick Motorsports remains much of a mystery. Mostly, because information is under wraps until the suspension is lifted.
Kyle Larson’s indefinite suspension was given an ending date a few months ago. Officially, Larson will be reinstated on January 1, 2021.
As for the car, Larson will drive the No. 5 machine. However, it’s not really the 5 team. Alex Bowman drove the No. 88 in 2019. For 2021, Bowman has been moved to the No. 48 with Ally backing.
The No. 88 car is becoming the No. 5 team. Cliff Daniels will be the crew chief for Larson.
But sponsorship, that’s a much bigger mystery. As expected, signing a sponsor for Larson would be difficult. Earlier this year, he was dropped by Chevrolet, McDonalds, Credit One Bank, Advent Health and others.
Rumors suggest the car will be sponsored by team owner Rick Hendrick himself via various automotive based companies.
Now, we’re seeing the first look at Kyle Larson merchandise for 2021. 4 t-shirts, a sweater and a hat have surfaced been placed online.
“We were told by the one manufacturer (of this shirt) to take it down, but we were just cleared by another manufacturer to post their hats/tees/etc. These items are now live at,” Racing USA stated via social media.
Part of that is likely because the contract doesn’t technically begin until 2021.
“Yea, that was part of it. The blue tee is being made by their trackside team as well, but was told by Checkered Flag we can take pre-orders as long as it ships in 2021,” Racing USA added.
The merchandise currently isn’t available for purchase, just pre-order. You can expect orders to be finalized on January 1st and shipped in mid-January.
The new merchandise images lead us to speculate. They lack any sponsor logos.
However, given the shade of blue used in much of the merchandise, the most likely sponsor would be HendrickCars.com.
