Bristol Motor Speedway reaches capacity for NASCAR dirt race

The Bristol Dirt Race is sold out

On March 28, 2021, Bristol Motor Speedway will host the NASCAR Cup Series. But, it’s not a traditional spring race by any means. For the first time in 50 years, the NASCAR Cup Series will race on the dirt.

The Bristol, Tennessee track has seating for 162,000 race fans. This is the 60th year of operation for the famed half-mile race track.

Due to the pandemic, only a limited number of seats were available as the crowd will be spaced out.

As of Thursday, the general grandstand seating is sold out. Only a limited number of premium seating options remain available.

Tickets for the Pinty’s Dirt Truck Race are also “exceeding expectations” per the track website. Fans are encouraged to get tickets for the March 27th truck race ASAP.

“We’ve always known our 60th anniversary season was going to be a special one, but to come out in the first week of January with news that fans have already scooped up our available NASCAR Cup Series tickets to the Food City Dirt Race, just elevates the excitement to a whole new level,” said Jerry Caldwell, executive vice president and general manager for Bristol Motor Speedway.

Caldwell added, “We appreciate our fans and community for always being by our side and we look forward to serving up some incredible WOW moments and memories throughout our entire 2021 season.”

What’s new for the Bristol Dirt Track

Bristol Motor Speedway was last converted to a dirt track in 2000 and 2001. This time around, the track will be much different.

The concrete oval features varying degrees of banking, maxing out at 30 degree. However, the dirt track banking will only be 18 degrees, down from the 2001 event.

Face coverings will be a required accessory in high-traffic areas inside and outside the stadium for all guests who attend.

Ahead of the NASCAR race weekend, the track will host the Bristol Dirt Nationals with 8 classes of short track racing machines.

After the NASCAR weekend, the dirt track still has two more events. One week of World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and another featuring World of Outlaws Late Models.

Officials have begun spacing out groups in their social distant seats. Fans will be notified when their tickets are available for download via the BMS app.
