9 cars will be dropping to the rear ahead of the green flag. 7 of those teams have unloaded backup machines after crashes in the Duel at Daytona.
William Byron is one of those drivers going to the rear. Byron was scheduled to start from the front row.
Pole sitter Alex Bowman suffered engine issues in his Duel race, however the team thinks the problem was a bad coil in the engine. That part has been replaced with no penalty. The team was able to get just one lap in practice on Saturday before rain washed out the session.
Daytona 500 inspection is scheduled for the morning. If any teams fails inspection twice, they will drop to the rear and a crew member will be ejected.
