Dogecoin to the moon and NASCAR

NASCAR team welcomes interesting cryptocurrency sponsor this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

This weekend, the NASCAR Xfinity Series rolls into Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Alsco Uniforms 300. Stefan Parsons is bringing along a new sponsor.

Dogecoin will share the primary sponsorship role with Springrates. It marks the third time Dogecoin has been seen in NASCAR, the first since 2014.

Per the twitter bio, “Dogecoin is an open source peer-to-peer cryptocurrency, favored by shibas worldwide. Elon Musk thinks we’re pretty cool.”

The cryptocurrency was founded in 2013 with a supply of 127 billion. In the last year, the average value of a single coin has increased 100 times over. Recently, interest has been sparked from Elon Musk who regularly comments on the subject.

Dogecoin has previously sponsored a NASCAR machine in 2014. In that case, an online Reddit community noticed Josh Wise was without a sponsor. In a week, the community raised $55k in funding to support the sponsorship at Talladega Superspeedway.

Josh Wise later won the fan vote to make the 2014 All-Star event. He ran the Moonrocket car.

“Lately, I have been obsessed with learning more about blockchain and the future of decentralized currency. I had the idea of including Dogecoin on the car for this race while chatting with Stefan following the season opener in Daytona,” said Sean Taylor, founder and CEO of Springrates.

“It was ironic because at the time, I wasn’t aware his dad’s team previously ran the Dogecoin car in 2014. Maybe it was fate.”

Taylor added, “Dogecoin has such a great community and there is so much interest surrounding it. I’m drawn to it because it’s affordable, gaining a lot of traction, and has endless potential. Plus, who doesn’t love memes?”

When Josh Wise ran the scheme, he was driving the No. 98 for Phil Parsons Racing, the father of Stefan.

“Having the opportunity to run a scheme that has an incredible story from my Dad’s race team is something I am so proud to do,” driver Stefan Parsons commented.

“When Josh ran the Dogecoin car in 2014, I was much younger and remember being so excited at the fact that the Dogecoin community and Reddit came together to make it happen. At the time, I also wished it were me in the seat. So, to have the chance for Dogecoin to ride along with Sean and me in Las Vegas is a dream come true,” Parsons added.

Stefan Parsons commented via social media, “Excited to have dogecoin onboard our Springrates Team BJ McLeod 99 this weekend! Hopefully we can take the DogeCar 2.0 to the front and #ToTheMoon!”

Parsons reflected on the 2014 car pictured above, “Looking back on when the NASCAR on Reddit community rallied behind us, @PPR98 and Josh Wise and made history in 2014, it brings such good memories back! I’m pumped to be behind the wheel of the DogeCar and have Dogecoin back on the track!”

Parsons has 17 career starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The driver has an average finish of 22nd.
