Platinum drivers for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series were invited to the test session. Those are the regulars who compete in all events with the series.
Chase Elliott holds the NASCAR Cup Series record from a qualifying run in 2019. Elliott circled the track at 14.568 seconds (131.713 mph).
Times from this session will not stand in any record books. Why? Because this is technically an unofficial session with the World of Outlaws.
Officials hosted this session to get a handle on tires. Teams put on multiple tires to test which compounds would be run for the race weekend. They also tested fuel burn off.
3 hours ahead of the session, Scott Bloomquist was scheduled to run in the test. However, he called just an hour before the start, informing them he wouldn’t be in attendance. Bloomquist is the closest driver to the speedway with his shop located in Mooresburg, TN.
The practice session began at 5pm ET and ran for several hours. Multiple sessions were run in 30 minute increments throughout the night.
