Red Farmer’s house, hauler and race car damaged in Alabama tornado (Photos)

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey declared a state of emergency earlier this morning for 28 counties in the state. Schools and Universities shut down classes ahead of the storm.

The state has been hit with a full list of severe weather conditions. Tornados and flash floods cover a bulk of the areas.

The National Weather Service issued an alert calling it a, “catastrophic event”.

A severe storm rolled into Alabama on Thursday afternoon. The storm produced a tornado in the north-central Alabama area.

Birmham, Alabama is a medium sized city with a population of 212,297. Video has surfaced showing a tornado rolling through the city.

The storm has progressed 130 miles. It covered areas from Bibb County to Calhoun County.

Alabama has reported near 20 tornados in the state since Wednesday.

Around noon, is tornado was confirmed in Moundville, Alabama. At 1:30 debris was seen in the area of Pelham, Alabama. At 2:30pm, a tornado touched down in Ragland of St. Clair County. Aliceville, Alabama also saw a tornado.

Hail up to 1 inch has also been reported.

Red Farmer’s race shop hit by tornado

Red Farmer is a member of the Alabama Gang. Career victories range from 700-900 on big scale and local short tracks.

Images have surfaced within the last hour of the damage.

The home of Red Farmer as well as his race shop were hit by a tornado. Panels have been removed from the every side of the home.

A tree fell onto the race hauler. Inside the hauler sat his dirt late model. Both are heavily damaged.

Farmer ran 36 NASCAR races from 1953 to 1975. He collected three top tens along the way.

However, in recent years, Farmer has returned to the dirt tracks. He runs regularly at the Talladega Short Track.

There were no serious injuries reported from the Farmer family.
