Bristol Dirt Race Results: March 29, 2021 (NASCAR Truck Series)

The first NASCAR race on the Bristol Motor Speedway dirt track is in the books!

This race was originally scheduled for Saturday night. However, heavy rains produced flash flooding in the Bristol, Tennessee area. Now, the field is set the green on a Monday in the first NASCAR dirt race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Bristol Truck Race
Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 40 (1-40 / 150)

Green flag, Hill gets the jump on the outside. He’s clear and cuts to the bottom in turn one. Matt Crafton kicks it to the top and he has momentum. Crafton gets to the right rear of Hill. Crafton to the race lead.

Hill fights back on the inside. At the same time, Sheldon Creed looks inside of him. They run three wide for the race lead, Creed takes the lead!

Lap 15, Tanner Gray is around and the caution is out.

Green, Creed leads on the inside in turn one. Friesen runs the outside but can’t get to his right rear.

Lap 20, Kyle Larson is flying through the field on the outside and inside. Larson started 28th and he’s now inside the top 15.

Lap 26, Carson Hocevar is around and the caution is out.

Green, Creed leads Friesen as they run three wide for 3rd.

Lap 34

Lap 34, Martin Truex Jr takes 2nd away. He’s on the bumper of Creed for the stage win.

Chandler Smith spins behind them with help from Austin Wayne Self. The track is blocked for Tyler Ankrum, he runs into the parked truck of Smith. Heavy damage for both and the caution is out.

—1 lap shootout to stage one finish—

Green, Creed wins the race into turn one but Truex Jr drives it deep on the outside. Truex Jr is there off turn two! Creed drives it deep into turn three, washes up the banking and doors Truex Jr.

They run side by side off turn four for the stage win. Martin Truex Jr wins stage one on the Bristol Dirt Track!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 50 (41-90 / 150)

Most of the field hits the pit lane. Stewart Friesen and John Hunter Nemechek elect to stay out and they’ll lead them to the restart.

Pit Penalty: Zane Smith’s truck was fueled before changing tires. That’s not allowed this weekend and he’ll go to the rear.

Green flag on stage two, Friesen gets the jump on the inside but Nemechek fights back on the outside. Friesen runs him wide in turn three to hold the lead.

Lap 43, Martin Truex Jr is on the bumper of Friesen for the lead. He enters on the top, builds momentum and clears Friesen via the outside lane.

Lap 49, John Hunter Nemechek spins from 4th with some help from Matt Crafton. Derek Kraus comes into the scene and runs into his parked truck. The caution is out.

Green, Rhodes drives it deep on the outside into turn one. He runs side by side with Truex Jr for the lead. Laps later, Truex Jr finally clears him on the bottom to hold the lead.

Lap 63

Lap 63, Jennifer Jo Cobb is around and the caution is out.

Green, Truex Jr and Rhodes run side by side into turn one and off turn two. Truex Jr finally clears him off turn four on the outside.

Lap 71, Norm Benning has come to a stop and the caution is out.

Green, Rhodes clears Truex Jr on the outside lane into turn one! Truex Jr fights back on the inside lane. He doors Rhodes in turn three and completes the pass in turn four, Truex Jr back to the lead.

Lap 80, Myatt Snider is around and the caution is out.

Green, Truex Jr and Rhodes run even into turn one but Truex Jr clears him on the outside off turn two.

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 60 (91-150 / 150)

Grant Enfinger and chase Purdy are the only trucks to stay out. They’ll lead them to the restart.

Green flag on stage three, Enfinger and Purdy spin the tires. Enfinger looks for the lead and takes it with ease.

Lap 94, Martin Truex Jr looks inside of Enfinger in the battle for the lead. He rubs on him, pushes him up the track and Truex Jr returns to the race lead.

Lap 99, Marlar is slow with a flat tire. The field is coming. They run four wide to get around the slow truck of Marlar. Larson runs right into the back of Marlar. Larson is done and the caution is out.

Green, Truex Jr leads Rhodes.

Lap 110, Kevin Harvick takes them three wide through the middle and he moves into the top 10.

Lap 119, Chandler Smith gets loose and spins down the banking. Johnny Sauter is collected and they both make contact with the inside wall. The caution is out.

Green, Truex Jr clears Rhodes via the outside lane in turn one.

19 to go, Andrew Gordon spins and now he’s stuck on the sand barrels. The caution is out.

Green, Martin Truex Jr leads as Rhodes misses a shift. Lessard and Rhodes run side by side for 2nd as Truex Jr opens the gap.

8 to go, Truex Jr leads Rhodes by 1 second.
