NASCAR crash at Martinsville collects 15 cars; Drama continues into week

Disagreements have continued since the checkered flag at Martinsville Speedway

On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series entered the half-mile of Martinsville Speedway. Hot tempers soon followed and that drama has continued into the week.

William Byron tagged the rear bumper of Suarez at corner entry. At the same time, Bubba Wallace got into the back of Byron.

Suarez was sent up the banking. He went so high that he brushed the wall and picked up some right rear damage.

William Byron: “You can tell that No. 99 sorry.”

Tab Boyd (#24 Spotter): “I wouldn’t be sorry.”

“Daniel Suarez: “Tell the fucking #24 that I’m going to get him back.”

Steve Barkdoll (#99 Spotter): “10-4, we owe him one big.”

Big crash at Martinsville

With 114 laps to go, Chris Buescher and Kyle Busch were beating on each other into turn one. Off turn two, Buescher turned down, pinching Busch and forcing heavier contact.

Both drivers were sent sideways off turn two. With the track completely blocked, a pack of cars were forced to drive right into the wreck.

In total, 15 cars were collected. That’s nearly half the field.

Kyle Busch: “Did he just fucking chop back down across me and like spin me out? What the fuck?”

Rick Carelli (#43 spotter): “Everybody’s played fair for about 350 laps. Now, they’re losing their crayolas.”

Matt DiBenedetto: “Didn’t know this would be just a survival of demo derby.”

Alex Bowman: “Whoever is behind me, thanks. Really, really appreciate that one.”

Daniel Suarez misses opportunity to get William Byron back

For Daniel Suarez, he missed out on his promise to return the earlier bump to William Byron. Suarez was caught up in the big crash and his weapon was disarmed.

Steve Barkdoll (#19 spotter): “Oop. Stop. Stop, stop. Get out. It’s burning up.”

The No. 99 car was on fire. Suarez climbed from his smoking machine after coming to a stop on the track.

However, Suarez hadn’t forgotten about Byron. As Byron cruised by the smoldering machine while under caution, Suarez tossed a water bottle at the driver’s window of the No. 24.

William Byron commented on his radio shortly after: “You were on old tires man. What are you going to do?”
