Today, the NTT Indycar Series is on the grid in St. Petersburg, Florida. Round two of the 2021 season is set to take place via the St. Petersburg Grand Prix.

Green flag, Herta wins the race into turn one on the inside. Sebastien Bourdais gets into the back of Josef Newgarden under braking. Harvey holds 2nd into turn two.

Lap 10, Herta leads Harvey by 1.7 seconds.

Lap 16, Jimmie Johnson is off track in the hairpin, the final corner. The car is running but he’s struggling to get it in reverse.

Many cars pile into the pit lane as they anticipate a caution.

Lap 18, full course yellow for Johnson’s parked machine.

Green, Herta leads Harvey and Newgarden into turn one. Bourdais locks up the wheels inside the top 5.

Lap 23, Takuma Sato dives to the inside of Hinchcliffe under braking into turn one. Sato’s front end washes through the corner and they bang wheel to wheel at the apex. Hinchcliffe has a flat tire.

Romain Grosjean and Will Power fight for space. Grosjean is stuffed into the wall but he keeps going. Grosjean is complaining of a wheel issue.

Lap 30, Herta leads Harvey by 3.8 seconds.

Lap 31, Newgarden looks inside of Harvey into turn one to take 2nd. Harvey is struggling on the softer red tires.

Pit cycle

Lap 35, Herta to the pit lane.

Lap 37, Rossi and Rahal bang wheels as they fight for space. Rossi has a flat tire! They’re both shoved off the track.

Lap 40, Herta leads Newgarden by 6 seconds.

Lap 61, Herta leads Newgarden by 9 seconds. Pagenaud runs 3rd, 17 seconds back of the leader as Herta drives away with it.

Lap 86, Herta leads Newgarden by 11 seconds.

Pit cycle

Lap 69, Herta pits from the lead. Newgarden pits on the same lap.

Lap 70, Dalton Kellett has come to a stop in the runoff area of turn one, no caution.

Lap 73, Jimmie Johnson spins in turn four, caution.

Green, Herta leads Newgarden into turn one of the single file restart. Newgarden has a look on the inside but he lifts.

Herta is on the black tires as Newgarden is on softer reds. Newgarden has a 110 seconds of push to pass while Herta has 99.

23 to go

23 to go, Newgarden is all over the bumper of Herta in the battle for the win. They break away from the field in a hurry.

21 to go, Ed Jones is sideways and parked in the middle of the track. He drove into the side of Hinchcliffe to cause the spin. The caution is out.

Green, Newgarden is on the bumper of Herta into turn one but he doesn’t pull the trigger.

15 to go, Newgarden is driving his car deep into the final hairpin corner. He makes up a ton of ground but he can’t get the drive off the corner to make a move into turn one.

10 to go, Newgarden is hanging with Herta but he’s using up his push to pass to do it.

8 to go, Herta opens the gap as Newgarden’s red tires begin to wear out.

4 to go, Herta leads Newgarden by 1.7 seconds.
