MBM Motorsports heading to NASCAR race in an open trailer

It’s NASCAR’s throwback weekend at Darlington Raceway

On Saturday, the NASCAR Xfinity Series takes center stage at Darlington Raceway. The Steakhouse Elite 200 is the annual throwback weekend for the sport.

Matt Jaskol will drive the No. 13 machine for MBM Motorsports. Jaskol made his debut in the sport earlier this year at Martinsville Speedway.

The No. 13 is a throwback to Mike Skinner’s 1991 paint scheme.

As NASCAR grew, so did the teams. As the teams grew, they brought more and more equipment to the race track. Until the days of the open trailer were about gone.

However, there’s nothing more throwback than an open trailer. They’ve been cycled out of the big leagues.

But, not this weekend. Tire rack and all, MBM Motorsports is hauling their No. 13 car to the South Carolina race track in open air.

Timmy Hill tweeted the photos with, “Carl Long and MBM Motorsports are a treasure. They are rolling to Darlington!”

In the past, multi-day shows and long travel distances brought requirements of enclosed trailers. In recent months, races have been cut to single day shows. For races close to home, teams leave the shop, run the race and return to the shop in the same day, without the use of hotels.

MBM Motorsports is based out of Statesville, NC. That’s just a short 2.5 hour drive to the race track.

Jaskol finished 28th in his debut at Martinsville Speedway.
