NASCAR no longer requires team members to wear masks outdoors

Masks will not be required in the outdoor areas of the infield

On Thursday morning, NASCAR has released an update regarding COVID protocols.

Since NASCAR’s return last year, masks have been required for all members in the infield. Starting this weekend, masks will no longer be mandatory in the outdoor sections of the infield.

Masks will still be required inside buildings, team haulers or indoor spaces.

“Going forward, our focus is on encouraging everyone to get vaccinated and preventing indoor spread of COVID-19,” NASCAR said in a statement.

Previously, heavy fines were in place for team members that failed to wear a mask.

This weekend, NASCAR is returning to Dover International Speedway in Delaware.
