Charlotte Race Results: May 28, 2021 (NASCAR Truck Series)

NASCAR race results from Charlotte Motor Speedway

Tonight, the NASCAR Truck Series is set to throw the green flag on the race weekend. Charlotte Motor Speedway is set to go truck racing on the 1.5-mile track. It’s also a triple-truck challenge event with a $50,000 bonus.

Stage 1 – Report

Laps: 30 (1-30 / 134)

Todd Gilliland, Sheldon Creed - Charlotte Motor Speedway - NASCAR Truck Series

Green flag, Gilliland and Creed run side by side into turn one. They remain side by side off turn two. Creed noses ahead on the outside in turn three. Gilliland loses the nose behind him and falls to 4th.

Lap 20, Creed leads by 3 seconds.

Sheldon Creed drives off to win stage one at Charlotte Motor Speedway!

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 30 (31-60 / 134)

The field hits the pit lane. Creed leads them to the pit entry but Todd Gilliland wins the race to the pit exit.

Green flag on stage two, John Hunter Nemechek noses ahead on the inside lane with a huge push into turn one. Creed moves into 2nd.

Johnny Sauter has a tire rub behind them. He brings it to a crawl and hits the pit lane under green.

Lap 50

Lap 50, Tanner Gray spins in turn four. Bret Holmes clips the apron, chases it up the hill and clips the wall. The caution is out.

Green, Nemechek gets the jump on the inside as Creed gets his rear end jacked off the ground on the outside.

Todd Gilliland, Sheldon Creed and Ty Majeski run three wide into turn three! Gilliland loses the nose, leans on Creed and Creed is sent for a loop. The caution is back out.

Nemechek pits from the race lead. He hands the point to Zane Smith. It’s a one-lap shootout to the stage finish.

Green, Smith and Austin Hill run even into turn one and off turn two. Smith sidedrafts Hill into turn three. He pulls him back and dives to the bottom. Zane Smith noses ahead off turn four.

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 74 (61-134 / 134)

Smith leads most of the field to the pit lane. Austin Hill wins the race to the pit exit. Many stay out as Hill will restart outside the top 10. Carson Hocevar takes over the lead.

Green flag on stage three, Hocevar gets the jump on the inside but Friesen has a huge push from Nemechek. Friesen pulls even on the outside in turn one and he’s clear off turn two, Friesen leads.

65 to go, Christian Eckes looks inside of Friesen in the battle for the lead. Nemechek has a run on both of them off turn two. Nemechek runs all the way to the apron on the back stretch and he takes them three wide for the lead in turn three. He slides all the way from the bottom to the top but Nemechek takes the lead.

50 to go

50 to go, Nemechek leads Hocevar by 2 seconds.

35 to go, Nemechek leads Hocevar by 4 seconds. Green flag pit stops are underway, Hocevar pits.

32 to go, Nemechek pits from the race lead.

20 to go, Nemechek cycles back to the race lead. He leads Hill by 3.5 seconds.

19 to go, big crash off turn four! Trey Hutchens III comes to a stop after making contact with the turn four wall. Johnny Sauter and Drew Dollar both enter the scene at full speed with nowhere to go. Heavy impact for both trucks but all drivers are ok. The caution is out.

Green, Nemechek is clear into turn one. They run side by side for 2nd, Hocevar takes that spot.

5 to go, Nemechek leads by 0.5 seconds.

Final lap, Hocevar closes in a hurry as Nemechek works lap traffic. But, he’s out of time.
