Report
Green flag, Stewart gets the jump and he’s clear by a car length on the outside in turn one. Speed fights back on the inside off turn two. They run side by side in turn three and off turn four. Speed completes the pass for the lead back in turn one.
Lap 12, Ernie Francis Jr dives to the inside of Speed in turn one. He slides him for the lead and takes the spot!
Lap 16, Stewart has faded to 4th. He made a brake adjustment ahead of this race that he’s not happy with. Bobby Labonte and Michael Waltrip both drive by on the side, Stewart to 6th.
Lap 25, Francis Jr leads Speed by 1 second.
Lap 26, the yellow flag is out as the green flag lap limit has been hit.
Race Break
Green, Francis Jr and Speed run side by side into turn one. Francis Jr holds the lead on the outside lane off turn two.
Paul Tracy brushes the wall off turn four toward the back of the field.
Lap 45, Francis Jr leads Speed by 2 seconds
Lap 48, the second yellow flag is out as the green flag limit has been reached once again.
Race Break
Green, Francis Jr leads Speed into turn one. They run three wide for 4th, Waltrip takes that spot.
15 to go, Francis Jr leads Speed by 1 second.
10 to go
10 to go, the caution is out. This will setup a 10 lap shootout to the finish.
Green flag, Speed dives to the inside of Francis into turn one, Speed to the lead! Kanaan spins behind them and the caution is back out.

Green, Speed and Francis run doors into turn one and they run event off turn two. Speed slides and doors him in turn three but they remain even. They rub more back in turn one.
4 to go, Francis Jr pinches down on Speed into turn one. Speed gets loose as chases it up the track. They make more contact before Speed brushes the wall and falls to 4th,
2 to go, Santos slides and doors Tracy. Tracy spins and the caution is out. Castroneves turns Speed under caution in payback for prior contact!
Green, Francis spins the tires at the launch. Labonte and Francis Jr run even into turn one. Francis clears him off turn two.
