Brad Keselowski says he’s interested in NASCAR Truck ownership

The NASCAR Cup Series owner could add a NASCAR Truck Series operation

Brad Keselowski recently announced that he will leave Team Penske following the 2021 season.

The 37-year-old has bought into Roush Fenway Racing. Starting in 2022, Keselowski becomes an owner for the operation as well as the driver of the No. 6 machine.

Formerly, Keseowski was a NASCAR Truck Series team owner. Part of the reason he shut down that team was to have focus on setting up an ownership role at the NASCAR Cup Series level.

Brad Keselowski Racing closed following the 2017 season.

Keselowski comments on selling truck team in 2017

Back in 2017, Keselowski explained, “I’ve never made it a secret that I would eventually like to be an owner at the top level of the sport.”

“And, while this is many years down the line, I want to start to prepare for that possibility now. Part of that preparation is seeking to develop an advanced engineering and manufacturing company that would be housed out of our 78,000-square-foot facility in Statesville and ultimately help to support this vision.”

The building that housed the NASCAR Truck Series team was converted. The employees were given the option to stay on board and KAM Manufacturing was born.

He added four years ago,” If I’m able to do what I want successfully, it will give me a pathway back to being an owner. One of the things I’ve learned from Roger Penske is the importance of having a successful core business outside of motorsports.”

“If you have a successful business venture outside of motorsports, you can kind of roll with the ebbs and flows of the sport as an owner. That’s the position I want to be in, and that I’ll need to be in to be an owner who lasts in NASCAR.”

Keselowski did exactly what he said he was going to do. He built a business then came back and bought into NASCAR ownership.
