Indycar qualifying results for the Music City Grand Prix on the Streets of Nashville
Next up, the NTT Indycar Series is set for qualifying in Nashville, TN. They’re ready to set the starting grid for Sunday’s race on the Nashville Street Circuit.

The following includes all rounds of knock out qualifying:
The field has been split into two groups for round 1. The top 6 from each group advance into round two.
8 minutes remain in group A, Jimmie Johnson locks up the brakes. He slides through the corner and slams the tire barrier.
3 minutes 20 seconds remain, the green flag is back out.
Max McLaughlin spins on his out lap.
Alex Palou is fastest overall in group A!

Colton Herta is the first car to the track in group B. He’s topped both practice sessions this weekend.
8 minutes remain in group B, Romain Grosjean cooks the corner. He uses the runoff to spin the car back around.
5 minutes remain, Herta sits at the top of the board and he’s done it with the harder black tire.
3 minutes ago, Herta remains on the black tires but he’s just improved his time once again. Herta will be heading into the next round with sticker reds.
2 minutes remain, Sato pulls to the pits to serve a pass-through penalty.
Scott Dixon is fastest in group B after a practice crash earlier today!

The top 6 from group A & B have advanced into this round. 12 cars will take part in this session and only the top six advance into round three.
7 minutes remain in round two, Herta returns to the top of the board with a 1:16.7203. All 12 have turned a lap already.
6 minutes remain, Pagenaud jumps to the top of the board. He’s the first driver to set a time on used reds.
4 minutes remain, Romain Grosjean is the first car out on sticker red tires. He jumps right to the top of the board. The rest of the field is set to make the same change.
2 minutes remain, Hinchcliffe runs right through the braking zone and throws his lap away.
30 seconds remain in round two, Josef Newgarden slams the wall! He rolls it to the runoff area as parts scatter across the track. Newgarden was attempting to get the car to a safe spot and avoid a penalty for impeding other drivers.

Drama in Indycar qualifying!
Indycar has reviewed Newgarden’s crash. They determined that a local yellow was waved. Per the rules, Newgardens fastest lap was disallowed. That knocks Newgarden out of the first six. Instead, Romain Grosjean has advanced into this final round of qualifying.
The top 6 cars from round two have advanced into this final round. This is the run for the pole position in a brief 6 minute session.
Herta enters this session as the only driver with a set of sticker red tires. That’s likely to be a massive advantage as the rest of the field will use scuffed reds.
1 minute 30 seconds remains, Herta is fastest by 0.8 seconds.
On his second lap, Herta improves his time, significantly. On his third lap, he improves his time yet again and smokes the entire field.
Colton Herta will start from the pole position in the Music City Grand Prix!
